Recently we lost a client and friend, who was with us for half a decade. This event is to honour her & her legacy of having the will power to believe there is a chance for a world that is kinder to all and not just for some.

We go through life not knowing how to deeply connect to ourselves & people around us. Vulnerability is not taught in schools. Conflict resolution & radical self-care is also missed. How would we even know how to build these skills, when society does not value community & one’s own body as even players to materialism & commodification of bodies?

DEADLIFT, UPLIFT, & LIBERATE is an event on Sept. 10th to honour Joette & to give us an opportunity to build discipline with the deadlift, connect to each other in deeper ways, and breakdown self-dignity to digest+contain.

Join us on September 10th from 5:30–7:00 PM at OnePeopleTO (17 Irwin Ave., downtown Toronto), for an in-person small-group workshop designed to help you build strength, confidence, and a deeper sense of trust in your body.

This workshop is richer than you expect. Guest speakers, gift bags, and learning a foundational movement pattern while nurturing one’s essence of self-dignity are all included.

Have never deadlifted before? Feeling unsure about how to do it in a way that holds your technique & dignity all in one?

You’re not alone. Most of us were never taught.

Many people want to build strength but are nervous about their technique, worry about getting injured, or have had experiences in fitness spaces that prioritized appearance or pushing through discomfort rather than understanding how their body moves.

Join Fitness in Place & OnePeopleTO on September 3rd from 5 - 7 PM in Toronto for DEADLIFT, UPLIFT & LIBERATE, the first of many in-person events. This is a small-group workshop designed to help you build strength, confidence, and a deeper sense of trust in your body. By learning the foundational movement pattern of a deadlift, there is an opportunity to nurture one’s essence of self-dignity.

Together, we’ll explore:
💪 Deadlifting Fundamentals

💪 Learn safe, effective deadlift technique, whether you’re new to lifting or building a stronger foundation.

💪 Strength Through Biomechanics

💪 Understand how your body moves to improve strength, confidence, and reduce unnecessary strain.

💪 Positive effects of intentional movement

💪 Explore a body-aware approach to lifting that supports longevity, accessibility, and sustainable movement.

💪 Somatic Tools for Strength

💪 Practice nervous system regulation strategies to help you stay grounded and connected while lifting.

“without community, there is no liberation…but community must not mean a shedding of our differences” -Audrey Lorde

Accepting a mentorship OnePeopleTO to nurture my soul & business has been one of the best decisions I have made this year. I thought I understood what community meant and yet I’m finding that there is a deeper level to nurture & hold. We think we understand things and maybe not completely, maybe we are just beginning to scrape past the surface to see there is wealth of richness under it.

Thrilled to bring somatic skills to our folks! This is beginning of what is to come for our community. Huge gratitude to Jewles for sharing Collective Haven, “a welcoming space where individuals gather to cultivate somatic skills that help navigate life’s challenges, both personal and collective. While we acknowledge the weight of crises and transitions, we also embrace the sacred peace that comes with being fully present in ourselves and supported in community.”

How many of us feel as if our body is worthy of care exactly as it is today?

At Fitness in Place (FIP), we believe movement is not a reward for being productive, changing your body, or meeting someone else’s expectations, but an opportunity to care for yourself in ways that feel safe, supportive, and sustainable.

Whether you’re building a new routine, returning after taking time away, or simply showing up as you are, you are welcome here.

Join us this August for classes designed to help you build strength, confidence, and trust in your body without pressure, judgment, or diet culture.

With modifications, encouragement, and a radically inclusive community, every session meets you where you are because your body deserves care at every stage of your journey.

Fine tuning my voice again to be sharper to be authentic to who I am now, post the postpartum depths of hardships, is the highest of highs. In a room full of people that don’t look anything like me, I know myself and the values I hold to speak my vibrations of life and love into the air.

Authenticity is the holding the respect of clearing old blocks and throat opening to receive direction. My voice is here to not only speak for myself or the what is to be deemed good or worthy, but also the trenches of violent systems we live in and what living means.

Gratitude to the team of coaches & my assistant ( & ) for getting me to places where I can be awarded titles like top trainer of Canada from 2x in the last few years.
