The last 8 weeks have been quite the experience. I have gone to the hospital twice by ambulance, the first time lasting more than 10 hours in emergency, finding out the excruciating back pain was a kidney stone. Passing a kidney stone, the pain was unbelievable, and I have taken some very hard hits in my many years of karate. The back pain kept getting worse. Had a follow-up to see if there were any more stones. After another sleepless painful night had to call the ambulance again because the pain was so severe I could not walk more than 2 steps without stopping. Another 4 hours in emergency and a prescription for painkillers. Found out the lingering pain from kidney stones can last for weeks after passing the stones.

I must say the Paramedics, Nurses and Doctors gave excellent, caring service and were truly interested in stopping my suffering.

I managed through the Karate clinics and belt tests so as not to let my students down.

Another season done, we had a very successful year that ended with the largest testing since covid. We had more than 60 students succeed, including David Lefebvre passing Yondan( 4th degree black belt). A big thank you to all the students and parents for making this such a successful year
