Pilates 101 — Pelvic positioning.

Imprint = Flexion: rolling the lumbar spine into the Mat.
Neutral = Supporting a light arc off the Mat.
Extension = Rolling over the tailbone to increase the Arc.

A neutral spine has three natural curves: cervical (neck), thoracic (mid‑back), and lumbar (lower back). When you lie on your back, the cervical and lumbar curves should maintain a gentle lift off the mat while the thoracic spine rests lightly down.

Finding and holding a proper supine neutral spine can be challenging — it requires active stabilization: your deep core and postural muscles must resist gravity to keep those gentle curves off the mat without over‑arching or pressing flat.

Quick cue: breathe, soften the ribs, roll the pelvis back and forth to find the centre position where, a small space can be found under your waistline.

Find a neutral spine for a strong core and lower back 😉
