Further to the post about zoning for special yards in Wildwood, please see the attached motion presented by our city councillor, Sherri Rollins as well as a project timeline and how you can get involved.
Wildwood’s Front Yard Controversy
Some Background, City By-Law N0. 95/2014
and Councillor Rollins’ plan to rectify the problem.
Wildwood Park’s name reflects its creator, Hugo Bird’s vision of a neighbourhood within a park, a green space of lawn, trees and forest from Point Road to SJR from front door to front door.
That’s why there are no front streets, only common sidewalks.
That’s why there are no front yard fences.
That’s why there is 50’ front yard setback.
That’s why By-Law No. 95/2014 (See below) was passed to protect Wildwood’s park setting enshrining the 50’ setback and no front yard fences.
Recently a bureaucratic oversight allowed the city bylaw change permitting a 45’ front yard setback without regard to Wildwood’s By-Law No. 95/2014.
Councillor Sherri Rollins wants to rectify this situation with the two contradictory bylaws by passing a motion affirming By-Law No. 95/2014. (See below)
If you want to preserve Wildwood’s unique park setting; support Councillor Rollin’s motion, attend the city meetings and hearings, send emails to the mayor (cc Sherri), talk to your neighbours.

Attention: Wildwood Tree Waterers
We NEED to start watering our Fall plantings.
The City Forester inspected the sites for our Central Park 2023 and our Fern Gully 2024 trees and said they need to be watered ASAP!
A dry fall and not much snow this winter has resulted in dry soil conditions.
Please start watering the trees every second week, 15 to 20 liters per tree.
If we haven’t had much rain by July then we’ll need to water weekly.
Spread the word to other waterers.
Let’s work together to grow Wildwood’s forest.
