Most people think strength is making heavy things move.

Overcoming isometrics are the opposite.

You find something that cannot move, then spend 3–6 seconds trying to prove it wrong.

The object wins every time.

That’s the point.

No momentum. No bouncing. No pretending the last rep was “all you”. Just pure force production.

Your nervous system responds by recruiting more muscle fibres and firing them harder because it has run out of other options.

To anyone watching, it looks like you’re aggressively buffering.

To you, it feels like your soul is trying to leave through your forehead.

The wall doesn’t move.

The rack doesn’t move.

Physics remains undefeated.

But your ability to produce force improves.

Most people avoid overcoming isometrics because nothing moves and it doesn’t look impressive.

Which is ironic, because caring how training looks is usually why people stay weak.

Turns out the answer wasn’t another supplement.

A 30-year study following 147,000+ people found that those who combined strength training and cardio lived longer than those who did neither.

Not groundbreaking.

Just inconvenient for people looking for shortcuts.

Lift weights.
Get your heart rate up.
Repeat for years.

Thursdays are for deadlifts.

What cues do I use for myself?
✅ Bar over mid-foot
✅ Sit hips down till i've got light contact with bar on shins
✅ Armpits into hips
✅ Push feet through the floor

Keep it simple.

Basically re-building the squat from scratch but it'll get there.

Paused box squats are great for:
1️⃣ Depth management
2️⃣ Improve technique consistency
3️⃣ Builds strength and power at my weakest point
4️⃣ Strengthens the posterior chain
5️⃣ Helps manage fatigue

Just to name a few.
