Abby White from Bangor Golf-club competed in The Ulster Boys and Girls Post-Primary Nett Qualifier (North) which was held on Tuesday 15th September in Ballycastle. Navigating the challenging combination of parkland and links golf along with strong wind and rain, Abby came 5th recording 33 points. Well done Abby!!!

It's very frustrating to have to raise an issue that we hoped was a thing of the past. Our greenstaff worked extremely hard to prepare the course ahead of the Vice Captains Tankard, on Sunday Past.
However, during the weekend, our staff discovered inexcusable damage on our practice range, adjacent to the green, which can only be described as a deliberate act of poor etiquette and demonstrates a lack of respect for our facilities and to our club.
A key area around the green has been considerably damaged requiring additional maintenance at a financial cost to repair, at a time when staff are already busy with seasonal greens maintenance. It's additionally galling that this is a result of individuals hitting pitch shots, not in to the green, but back towards the clubhouse. It's clearly evident that no attempt had been made to replace any divots, something as a club we should not tolerate.
Additional range signage is in production, but common sense should have prevailed. To be clear, we have a fantastic membership base, and this is clearly a result of someone not meeting the standards and behaviour we expect at Bangor Golf Club. Course committee and greenstaff will monitor the situation, and future actions taken by council if deemed appropriate.

What a fantastic day we had yesterday at Bangor Golf Club for our Vice Captain’s Tankard. One of the most prestigious events in our calendar, this 36‑hole nett competition brings together the top 35 qualifiers from our monthly medals — and it certainly lived up to its billing.

The weather was superb, the course was in brilliant condition, and the greens… absolutely outstanding. They were the talking point of the day.

We saw some excellent scoring throughout both rounds, with Christopher Vaughan claiming the overall title on an impressive 5 under.

Jack Owens finished runner‑up — helped along nicely by a brilliant hole‑in‑one at the 12th.

Connor Ogle secured third place after a strong performance across the 36 holes.

PM Winner: Jonathan McNaught

A huge congratulations to all prize winners, and we’re delighted for Vice Captain Paul Murray that his Tankard Day was such a success from start to finish.

Ulster Champions Bangor Golf Club ladies Mary McKenna team attended the All Ireland finals at Woodenbridge Co. Wicklow at the weekend.
Unfortunately Bangor was beaten by the eventual winners, Cahir Park from Munster. However, the team went on to beat Leinster, who were the favourites going into the finals, (Kilmashogue GC). Bangor secured 3rd place out of 99 teams across Ireland. Congratulations to all who played a part in this success, expertly managed by Nicola Kozak and Mandy McEvoy. A fantastic experience was enjoyed by all, and Bangor would like to thank Mary McKenna and her whole team at Woodenbridge for their excellent organisation and very warm hospitality.
Many congratulations ladies. You did your club and yourselves proud.
