Outstanding performance from Birdwell today! ⚽🔴

Today we played our local friends Redfearns, a team currently playing five divisions above us. We knew it would be a great test for the boys, but from the first whistle to the last they were absolutely brilliant.

Every single player was on the ball today. We played some fantastic football, moved the ball brilliantly, worked hard for each other and really took control of the game from start to finish.

But the scoreline and goals only tell part of the story. This was a proper all-round team performance.

Every single player played their part wherever they were asked to play as subs were made. The passing, movement, work rate and teamwork were excellent, and the boys kept playing football the right way from beginning to end.

A huge performance against a team five divisions above us and one we've always had closely matched games with.

Most importantly, a great game played against our local friends at Redfearns. 🤝⚽

⚽ FULL TIME: BIRDWELL ROVERS 2 - LANGHOLD 2 ⚽

What a performance from the lads today and such a great opposition! 👏

Up against a team a few leagues above us, we knew it was going to be a tough test, but the boys worked their socks off from the first whistle to the last. Both teams were strong throughout and, despite the difference in leagues, looked really well matched.

A last-minute goalkeeper absence could have made things even tougher, but four lads stepped up and took turns between the sticks. Massive shout-out to Vinnie, Thomas, Alex B and Trav — absolutely superb and did whatever the team needed! 🧤💪

Langhold went into half-time 1–0 up, and with only 10 minutes remaining we found ourselves 2–0 behind.

But the lads never gave up.

Two late goals, bags of determination and a brilliant fightback saw us pull it back to 2–2! 🔥⚽⚽

A fantastic comeback and, more importantly, a performance full of character, teamwork and effort against really strong opposition.

Proud of every single one of them today. Well done, lads! 💙⚽👏

More pre-season friendly success a couple of weeks ago . . . . . (Sack the FB editor 🫣!)

Another pre-season fixture for our boys as we welcomed Silkstone to a parched Birdwell Rec.

With a lineup stretched by holidays and other absences, we were grateful to three lads from our under 10s to bolster the bench and give some respite on a warm summer morning.

After a sluggish start in which we fell behind to a good finish from the opposition, we settled into our recent good form of quality passing football, keeping the ball on the deck and creating numerous good chances. We soon got into a lead we did not relinquish for the remainder of the game, finishing the contest with a deserved two goal cushion.

Another great performance and result, this time against a team two divisions higher, showing where our ceiling with this team can reach. Some absolute quality football and finishing again today. The new season cannot come qu**ky enough!

MoTM today goes to Jenson, with a special acknowledgement to our under 10s who not only helped us out but showed real quality and application throughout 💪👍

Despite the blustery wind, a bit of drizzle, and even some sunshine, the lads put in a brilliant performance in another pre-season outing.
With manager OB away sampling the local beverages abroad 🍻, Jack and Tom took the reins and steered the boys to a superb victory over Upton Town.

With goals flying in from all over the pitch and a real team performance from start to finish. It was great to see everyone getting valuable minutes, working hard for each other, and playing some excellent football. Big shout out to Trav, Freddie and Charlie who took on keeper duties today - Superb from all three lads 🤩🤩🤩

Pre-season is all about building fitness, confidence and togetherness, and today certainly ticked all the boxes.

Birdwell U12s Continue Pre-Season Momentum ⚽️💪🖤❤️

With Thomas Cousins at the helm this week, Birdwell U12s produced another impressive display as they welcomed familiar opponents Pinfold Pumas to Birdwell Recreation Ground for their latest pre-season friendly.

Building on last week's strong performance, Birdwell played with pace, precision and confidence throughout. Quick, accurate passing and excellent movement created plenty of chances, while some clinical finishing resulted in another high-scoring morning.

It wasn't just the goals that impressed, but the quality of football on display. Every player contributed to a superb team performance, working hard for one another and showing great composure both in and out of possession.

With such an outstanding all-round display, the Man of the Match award went to the entire team—a deserved recognition of a fantastic collective effort.

The squad continues to build momentum ahead of the new season, and if this performance is anything to go by, there's plenty to look forward to.

From the moment the team moved, Birdwell Rovers have welcomed us into their football family and gone above and beyond for every one of our boys. We've been made to feel so welcome, and we honestly can't thank everyone enough. Tonight has shown us just how much goes on behind the scenes from people who have never met our kids but give so generously. Totally humbled!

What a fantastic celebration of an incredible season! Every single boy deserved their award tonight. They've all worked so hard, grown in confidence, developed massively, and finished the season stronger than ever. We couldn't be prouder of them all.

Every one of the boys has played some unbelievable football this season. One of the biggest highlights had to be playing on the Barnsley FC pitch this spring – a memory they'll never forget. 🔴⚪️

None of this would have been possible without the vision and dedication of OB, Tom and Jack. From bringing this team together to all the work that happens behind the scenes, they have been nothing short of incredible. They treat every child as if they were their own, give up so much of their time, celebrate every success, and are always there to pick the boys back up after a disappointment.

Three brilliant coaches, three brilliant role models, and a team that has become so much more than just a football club.

Thank you, Birdwell Rovers, for an unforgettable season. Looking forward to plenty of post/pre season friendlies before we start the new season as U12s 🔴⚫️⚽👏

Goalfest in the Sunshine ☀️⚽

A beautiful, albeit windy, summer evening provided the perfect backdrop as the lads took on old rivals Dearne & District FC in a post/pre-season friendly, rekindling memories of our Barnsley League days.

After a shaky start that saw us concede an early goal, the boys quickly settled into their stride. They produced some outstanding football, moving the ball with crisp first-time passing to open up the opposition. Their quality on the ball more than made up for the windy conditions and the height advantage of several Dearne & District players.

Despite an excellent performance from the D&D goalkeeper, the goals soon began to flow, and we went into the break with a deserved 3-1 lead.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with the pace and movement of our attacking play creating chance after chance. The boys were clinical in front of goal, eventually running out convincing 6-1 winners in what was undoubtedly one of our best performances in recent months.

Hopefully it's a sign of what's to come as we look ahead to the upcoming U12s season!

⚽🏆⚽ A day to remember ⚽🏆⚽

Wow oh wow what a day these boys have just had, as they took part in Momentous Football Academy fabulous play like a pro tournament at Barnsley Football Club very own Oakwell stadium today.

An experience to last a lifetime, and the lads did us proud against some very strong teams and in the shadow of the Ponty End where many have sat cheering on the mighty reds.

To cap it off, they brought home the challenge cup and celebrated like only they can on the pitch in front of their proud families.

Keep these memories alive boys, you deserve every minute.
