⚽ 🔥THE SUCCESS CONTINUES! 🔥⚽
Birdwell Rovers 1–0 Kimberworth

An early goal made it look like the game might be sealed, but despite spending large parts of the match in the visitors’ half, further goals just wouldn’t come. It certainly wasn’t for a lack of trying! Their keeper was class and pulled off some brilliant saves to keep them in the game.
The lads kept working, stayed solid when needed and saw out another well-deserved win. 👏⚽

🏆 Players of the Match

⭐ Toby (Coach Tom) – Almost acting as a fourth defender at times, making some great saves and giving us real confidence at the back.

⭐ Charlie (Parents) – Put away the winning goal, made an important goal-line clearance when needed and caused problems with his fast runs going forward.

⭐ Thomas (Manager OB) – Made a vital clearance off the line and looked really tidy throughout, distributing the ball well and helping us play through the midfield.

Another win, another clean sheet – the success continues! 🔴⚫️⚽

⚽🏆⚽🏆 Cup tie success ⚽🏆⚽🏆

On a bright and windy day in Ecclesfield, the boys took on Caribbean Sports Club in a knock-out cup tie looking for a place in the quarter finals.

A narrow and bobbly pitch meant the usual brand of crisp passing football was off the menu, as we sought to play percentage football, keep risks to a minimum and take the chances when they came. As ever, the boys rose to the challenge and capitalised on opportunities as they came, playing against the wind in the first half they headed into the break with a 3-1 lead.

In the second half we ensured that chances for the opposition were kept to a minimum whilst being clinical in front of goal when the chances came. In the end we secured our place in the next round after a solid 6-1 win.

MoTM this week went to Henry and Vinnie 🏆🤩 well done boys 😁

Onwards and upwards boys!

⚽⚽Birdwell Rovers U12s Match Report⚽⚽

Porter Blues 5–6 Birdwell Rovers

A long away trip to Totley didn't stop Birdwell making the perfect start, with Travis firing us ahead after just 20 seconds. We quickly doubled our lead and looked to be in complete control as the lads moved the ball brilliantly.

Credit to Porter though—they fought their way back into the game, and after an entertaining first half the scores were locked at 2–2.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Birdwell again went two goals clear, only for Porter to battle back and make it 4–4. Rather than panic, the boys kept playing positive football and always looked the more likely side to find another goal.

Two quick Birdwell strikes put us 6–4 ahead, and although Porter grabbed a late fifth, the lads stood firm to secure a deserved 6–5 victory.

⭐ Man of the Match

Vinnie — an outstanding performance, playing the first half in goal before scoring a superb second-half hat-trick.

Zac — rock solid at left back, giving the team great balance while constantly driving us forward.
Two wins from two. Brilliant effort, lads—keep it going!

⚽️Winning Start to the league season ⚽️

Birdwell Rovers U12s 4–2 Abbey Lane U12s ⚽

A great start to the league season for Birdwell Rovers as the lads continued their recent good form with a fantastic full-team performance. 👏🔴⚫

Birdwell started strongly, moving the ball well and playing some really good passing football. We raced into a 2–0 lead before Abbey Lane pulled one back.

Birdwell responded to make it 3–1, before Abbey Lane again reduced the deficit to 3–2. The lads kept their composure though, and a fourth Birdwell goal secured an excellent 4–2 victory. 💪⚽

With around 10 minutes remaining, Birdwell's goalkeeper picked up an injury. Our no.10 stepped up and went in goal, helping the team see out the victory as the lads continued to work hard to secure the win. 🧤👏

⭐ MOTM – Freddie & Thomas ⭐

Freddie takes the honours after a brilliant hat-trick and intelligent, quick decision-making, while Thomas earns his for two assists, passing the ball well and then stepping up for the team when needed by taking the gloves.

A really positive opening league performance, built on good passing, teamwork and everyone playing their part.

Outstanding performance from Birdwell today! ⚽🔴

Today we played our local friends Redfearns, a team currently playing five divisions above us. We knew it would be a great test for the boys, but from the first whistle to the last they were absolutely brilliant.

Every single player was on the ball today. We played some fantastic football, moved the ball brilliantly, worked hard for each other and really took control of the game from start to finish.

Birdwell 13–1 Redfearns 🔥⚽

Charlie ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
Freddie ⚽⚽⚽
Vinnie ⚽⚽
Jenson ⚽⚽

But the scoreline and goals only tell part of the story. This was a proper all-round team performance.

🧤 Toby keeping things tight in goal.

🛡️ Alex B, Zac, Thomas and Harry in defence keeping the oposition forwards at bay.

⚽ Thomas, Jenson, Zac and Alex P working through the centre moving the ball well through the field.

💨 Charlie, Thomas, Alex P, Vinnie and Freddie on the wings being direct and dangerous with every attack.

🎯 Vinnie, Charlie and Freddie up front clinical in front of goal.

Every single player played their part wherever they were asked to play as subs were made. The passing, movement, work rate and teamwork were excellent, and the boys kept playing football the right way from beginning to end.

A huge performance against a team five divisions above us and one we've always had closely matched games with.

Most importantly, a great game played against our local friends at Redfearns. 🤝⚽

Really proud of the whole team today.

Brilliant, Birdwell! 👏⚽🔴⚪️

⚽ FULL TIME: BIRDWELL ROVERS 2 - LANGHOLD 2 ⚽

What a performance from the lads today and such a great opposition! 👏

Up against a team a few leagues above us, we knew it was going to be a tough test, but the boys worked their socks off from the first whistle to the last. Both teams were strong throughout and, despite the difference in leagues, looked really well matched.

A last-minute goalkeeper absence could have made things even tougher, but four lads stepped up and took turns between the sticks. Massive shout-out to Vinnie, Thomas, Alex B and Trav — absolutely superb and did whatever the team needed! 🧤💪

Langhold went into half-time 1–0 up, and with only 10 minutes remaining we found ourselves 2–0 behind.

But the lads never gave up.

Two late goals, bags of determination and a brilliant fightback saw us pull it back to 2–2! 🔥⚽⚽

A fantastic comeback and, more importantly, a performance full of character, teamwork and effort against really strong opposition.

Proud of every single one of them today. Well done, lads! 💙⚽👏

More pre-season friendly success a couple of weeks ago . . . . . (Sack the FB editor 🫣!)

Another pre-season fixture for our boys as we welcomed Silkstone to a parched Birdwell Rec.

With a lineup stretched by holidays and other absences, we were grateful to three lads from our under 10s to bolster the bench and give some respite on a warm summer morning.

After a sluggish start in which we fell behind to a good finish from the opposition, we settled into our recent good form of quality passing football, keeping the ball on the deck and creating numerous good chances. We soon got into a lead we did not relinquish for the remainder of the game, finishing the contest with a deserved two goal cushion.

Another great performance and result, this time against a team two divisions higher, showing where our ceiling with this team can reach. Some absolute quality football and finishing again today. The new season cannot come qu**ky enough!

MoTM today goes to Jenson, with a special acknowledgement to our under 10s who not only helped us out but showed real quality and application throughout 💪👍

What a morning! 🌦️⚽️💪

Despite the blustery wind, a bit of drizzle, and even some sunshine, the lads put in a brilliant performance in another pre-season outing.
With manager OB away sampling the local beverages abroad 🍻, Jack and Tom took the reins and steered the boys to a superb victory over Upton Town.

With goals flying in from all over the pitch and a real team performance from start to finish. It was great to see everyone getting valuable minutes, working hard for each other, and playing some excellent football. Big shout out to Trav, Freddie and Charlie who took on keeper duties today - Superb from all three lads 🤩🤩🤩

Pre-season is all about building fitness, confidence and togetherness, and today certainly ticked all the boxes.

Thanks to Upton Town for the game, and thanks to everyone who came along to support us. On to the next one! 💛❤️⚽

Birdwell U12s Continue Pre-Season Momentum ⚽️💪🖤❤️

With Thomas Cousins at the helm this week, Birdwell U12s produced another impressive display as they welcomed familiar opponents Pinfold Pumas to Birdwell Recreation Ground for their latest pre-season friendly.

Building on last week's strong performance, Birdwell played with pace, precision and confidence throughout. Quick, accurate passing and excellent movement created plenty of chances, while some clinical finishing resulted in another high-scoring morning.

It wasn't just the goals that impressed, but the quality of football on display. Every player contributed to a superb team performance, working hard for one another and showing great composure both in and out of possession.

With such an outstanding all-round display, the Man of the Match award went to the entire team—a deserved recognition of a fantastic collective effort.

The squad continues to build momentum ahead of the new season, and if this performance is anything to go by, there's plenty to look forward to.

Up the Rovers! ❤️🖤💪
