LANCASTER SUMMER SCHOOL 2026

Barnsley SKC members attending the annual KUGB Summer School — a packed week of excellent training, catching up with the wider KUGB family, and the opportunity to take part in a fantastic range of specialised activities and seminars.

Today, the KUGB held its second Grading Examiners Course of 2026 at Lancaster University, bringing together Examiners from across the country for an important day of technical training, guidance, and standardisation.

Led by Sensei Frank Brennan (8th Dan), the KUGB's Technical Lead, the course drew on his extensive knowledge and experience to reinforce the high standards expected throughout the organisation.

A valuable and productive day, helping to maintain the technical quality and integrity that the KUGB is renowned for.

Thoroughly enjoyable black belt course with Sensei Garry Harford tonight. A hot one but we seem to be getting used to training in heatwave conditions. Thank you so much to all our members for supporting, and to Sensei Garry for not slapping us !
You had to be there … Sure Sensei Enoeda would have laughed.

KUGB SHOTOKAN CUP
Well done Kiri, Mei, Carl and George competing in the Shotokan cup at Nottingham University.

Good spirit and attitude from all in both kata and Kumite. It’s not all about winning trophies but putting yourself out there and competing for personal success. We are proud of you all.

Special shout out to Kiri Subaskaran who reached the semi finals in Kata and achieved a very hard fought 2nd place in kumite.
