A foam roller is a great piece of equipment to use in mat Pilates classes.
One reason why? It can be used to test & improve an essential part of everyday life… balance ⚖️
But there are many other benefits too, including ⬇️
🤸🏽 Adjusting starting positions — helpful when working around injuries or when adding an extra challenge
🧘🏽 Assisting with stretches
🔁 Helping us go with the flow — its cylindrical shape allows smooth transitions between movement phases
🧱 Building core strength
🦴 Supporting spinal awareness & posture in supine exercises
🧨 Making movements more dynamic

A magic circle really is magic ✨
This simple little prop is a Pilates staple for a reason 💫 It can support your movement, help you find control or even create length when muscles feel tight.
Don’t let it fool you though… it brings the burn too 🔥💪
You’ll find it in mat, reformer, pregnancy & postnatal sessions. A small circle with BIG benefits 🤍
Expecting & exercising? 🤰
Physical activity is recommended & generally safe for most women during pregnancy.
If you’re feeling unsure whether it’s safe for you, then I’d highly recommend looking at the Active Pregnancy Foundation pre screening questionnaire (the link 🔗 is in the bio)!
This free resource will help you to decide whether should speak to a healthcare professional 🩺 before starting or continuing exercise during pregnancy.

What IS a magic circle? ⭕️
I’m sure you’ve all seen a magic circle, but what does it actually do & WHY do we use it in Pilates?
It provides counterforce for strengthening muscles & helps to isolate specific muscle groups.
The magic circle is a key piece of equipment for all types of Pilates including pre & post natal & reformer.
Expecting & exercising? 🤰
It’s often spoken about the fact you shouldn’t be lying on your back in the 2nd and 3rd trimester, but do you know why?
The growing weight of the womb & your baby can result in one of the major blood vessels being compressed which can make Mums feel…
💫 Dizziness
🥴 Lightheadness
😮💨 Out of breath
It also reduces outflow of the heart for major organs + back to the baby.
So, how do we work with this knowledge in modified pregnancy pilates? We utilise tools such as the Arc Barrel which will give you a 45 degree angle lift, ensuring you & baby are safe throughout.

Does exercise shake your baby? 🤰
No! If you have an uncomplicated pregnancy, then your baby is protected in the amniotic fluid which is inside your womb.
If however, you do feel uncomfortable with high impact exercises, try low impact ones instead.
