💚 But the Kinnerz Super Cup has always been about more than just the winners.

❤️ The whole tournament was played in brilliant spirits, with players competing hard but fairly and family and friends lining the sidelines throughout the day to cheer everyone on. ❤️

🌟 That’s what makes this event special — football, competition, friendship and community all coming together for one fantastic day.

🧔🏻‍♂️ I, Coach Kinnerz, have also been player-manager for CCV. A team of community footballers, who over the years have gone from strength to strength! We’ve just completed our very best season to date!

🏵️ There were more awards handed out than ever before this year, rewarding many players for their great achievements.

🏆 CCV also recently retained the annual Kinnerz Cambridge Cup, which is an enjoyable two leg match up vs Cambridge Assessment.

Some people may wonder why “Kinnerz from Cambridge” has taken two days off work to travel across the country to watch a group of older gentlemen walking around, playing football.

To that, I’d simply smile with pride and say this…

1️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸… 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝘂𝗻!

These remarkable men defy age and give absolutely everything every time they step onto the pitch. Their passion, skill, experience and love for the game are nothing short of inspiring. They leave it all out there, playing with heart, pride and determination.

2️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗱𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲.

As a young lad, I watched the likes of David Beckham—my idol—and dreamed of being half the footballer he was.

Now, as I’m approaching 40, with the greatest respect to Sir David and every footballing legend before him, I stand here today looking up to these incredible gentlemen. They have become my role models.

My hope is that if I’m fortunate enough to reach 75, I’ll still be fit enough, passionate enough and privileged enough to wear the Three Lions as one of our Silver Lions.

These wonderful men are now reaching the pinnacle of lifelong footballing journeys. They truly embody everything we’ve always loved about the beautiful game.
