Congratulations to Paul Neal on winning the Dougall Memorial 2026

A notice to everyone that Dennis' funeral will be held on Monday 22nd June at 12pm, at the West Suffolk Crematorium in Risby near Bury St Edmunds.

Following the service there will be a gathering at Eriswell Lodge for people to come and remember Dennis in the company of his friends and family.

On behalf of Cambridgeshire we would like to pass on our collective condolences and best wishes to Dennis’ family.

Dennis Meekings

It is with sadness that we are announcing that Dennis Meekings, stalwart of Suffolk CPSA, has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.

Dennis was a huge supporter of clay shooting in Suffolk, refereeing at all the grounds and clubs at some point over his many years of being involved in our sport, as well as being a member of the Suffolk CPSA County Committee for more years than anyone can actually recall. Outside of Suffolk, Dennis was heavily involved in Clacton Gun Club for a great many years, and was even seen to have refereed Major Championships both locally and occasionally further afield.

Always with a smile, always early, and always a reliable and professional member of our collective industry and sport. He will be greatly missed by an enormous number of people.

We would like to send our collective condolences and best wishes to Dennis’ family and friends during this sad time.

We will advise of any news on Dennis’s funeral arrangements as soon as we are aware of them.

The 2026 Cambridgeshire S***t Doubles Championship was held at Priory Clay Target Centre on Sunday 31 May. Thank you to Natasha, Aaron, John and team for hosting this well run event and to all the referees. Congratulations to the winners - Championship winner - P Cook; Mens and C**ts - L Muller; and Veterans – A Taylor. There were no ladies or junior entries. Thank you to those who came to support the shoot.
There is now a bit of a break before the next Cambridge County Championship which is the All Round on Sunday 26 July at Priory Clay Target Centre.

The 2026 Cambridgeshire DTL Championship was held at Priory Clay Target Centre on Sunday 24 May, which, at that date, was the hottest day of the year. Congratulations to Championship winner R Croft (on countback) with a 98/286, and he also won A Class. Mens – S.Willis; Veterans – J Russo; Ladies – J Bell; AA Class – P Barnard; B Class – T Jones; C Class – A Oakey. There were no junior or c**t entries. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to Natasha, Aaron, John and team and the referees at Priory Clay Target Centre for hosting and running an enjoyable shoot.

The next Cambridge County Championship is the S***t Doubles on Sunday 31 May at Priory Clay Target Centre.

The 2026 Cambridgeshire FITASC Championship was held at Sporting Targets on Bank Holiday Monday 4 May. Congratulations to Championship winner (on countback) B Jordan with an 89, Mens – H Dickens (89); Veterans – T Leonard; Ladies – G Moule; Junior – J Allen. Thank you to all those who came to support the championship. Our thanks go to Andrew, Becky, referees and staff at Sporting Targets for hosting and running an enjoyable shoot with some challenging targets set out over a good course.
The next Cambridge County Championship is the DTL at Priory on Sunday 24 May.

The 2026 Cambs Sportrap Championship took place at Sporting Targets on 11 April. Thank you to Sporting Targets for hosting the Championship and to all their team for putting on a challenging shoot on a day of sunshine and showers accompanied by a fairly strong breeze. Congratulations go to Championship winner M Bowes; Mens – T Hedgecock; Veterans – T Leonard; Ladies – J Williams; Junior – M Allen; C**t – J Allen. Thank you to everyone who came to support the shoot.
