𝗔 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗔 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗𝗡’𝗧 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗔 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗘… 👇

It should teach you why the routine works.

These are a couple of the routines from last week’s Salsa Buena Improver and Intermediate classes in Cardiff & Cowbridge, demonstrated by Angeliki and Shahid.

When we teach partnerwork, the aim isn’t simply to get everyone from move 1 to move 2 to move 3.

We want you to understand it.

For leaders:
How do you make the lead clear without forcing it?
Where should your hands be?
Where should your body be?
When does the lead actually happen?
What makes one lead feel smooth…and another feel awkward?

For followers:
How do you respond without anticipating?
How do you keep your balance, timing and movement?
And once the technique is working, where can you start adding your own styling and personality?

That’s why we break things down, explain the mechanics, demonstrate them from different angles, join the rotation, watch people dancing and correct the little details that can make a HUGE difference.

Because memorising more and more moves doesn’t necessarily make somebody a better dancer.

Understanding what you’re doing does. ❤️

And after 20 years of teaching Salsa, that is still one of the things I care most about in our classes.

Angeliki is now back teaching alongside Shahid on Monday evenings in Cardiff for our Improver/Intermediate Salsa classes. She brings a fantastic eye for follower technique and styling, while also jumping into the rotation and giving leaders really useful feedback on the quality and clarity of their lead.

There’s something about this time of year.

Summer holidays are over.
The evenings are drawing in.
Strictly is back on the TV…

…and suddenly everyone seems to get the urge to DANCE with Salsa Buena. ❤️

Every year, September onwards is one of our busiest periods at Salsa Buena — and we’re already seeing our classes filling up again.

From Marble Hall to Jacob’s Roof Garden, we’ve made some lovely memories dancing in some of the very best spots around Cardiff. This one has definitely added a few more!

The afternoon forecast for Saturday is showing a very lovely 20c, a breeze, maybe the odd gust, and a very minimal chance of light rain later on in the day (one of the wooden dance floors is covered and we have an indoor seated area on the rooftop), so we can’t wait to get you dancing at the famous Jacobs Roof Garden.

Last Thursday was another brilliant Latin Revolution night with Salsa Buena in Cardiff city centre.

A busy room.
Loads of dancing.
Loads of laughter.

And those gorgeous, happy faces everywhere you looked. ❤️

That’s what I love most about these nights.

Not just that the classes are busy.
Not just that the dance floor fills up afterwards.

But that people walk in after a long day… and a couple of hours later they’re smiling, laughing, dancing and completely switched off from the rest of the week.

That feeling matters.
