20 years ago I taught my first Salsa class in Cardiff to a handful of people.

This week, review number 300 came in. From one of the the people having a great first time and having come alone, in these pics from last week.

And here's the thing I noticed reading back through them 👇

So many of them start the same way:

"I nearly didn't come..."
"I was so nervous walking in alone..."
"I had no partner and two left feet..."

Most people came alone the first time.

Every single one came back.

That's not because of me. That's because of the people in that room — the ones who wave you over, laugh with you when you turn the wrong way, and dance with you like they've known you for years.

Caught this duet today at the Vintage for Victory festival in Cardiff. Every tent had a dance space, and people were jiving and rock and rolling with the biggest grins on their faces.

It reminded me of something I've known for 20+ years, Salsa or any other style: 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴. And it's contagious — watching it makes you smile too.
