Castleford RUFC are proud to announce our 2026/27 Captain and Vice Captain.

Congratulations to Liam Hands, who has been appointed Club Captain, and Sean Danks, who has been named Vice Captain for the upcoming season.

A few words from Head Coach Mikey Firth:
"This year's captains have been selected for several reasons. Liam and Sean are both fantastic, long-serving members of the squad. They truly bleed Cas and always have the club's best interests at heart. They have shown fantastic leadership qualities throughout pre-season and are two of the most respected members of the squad. I have every confidence they will continue to lead from the front, drive standards, and help build this club back to where it belongs, both on and off the field."

Our Player Profile series continues as we introduce Tyler Parkinson, Jenson Parkin and Ryan Parkinson!

🔴 Tyler Parkinson
One of the last few survivors from our Colts setup, Tyler adds great depth to the forward pack and brings some much-needed youth to the squad. Daft as a brush, but he certainly knows his way around a rugby pitch! With strong tackling, relentless work at the breakdown and hard ball carrying, Tyler is sure to turn a few heads this season. We can't wait to see him make his open-age debut in a Castleford RUFC shirt.

🔵 Jenson Parkin – "Jendog"
It's fantastic to have Jenson back involved with the club. Although currently recovering from injury, he's thrown himself back into training to test himself and get back around the squad.
Mad as a box of frogs but an absolute animal on the rugby pitch, Jenson's engine and fearless attitude make him a huge asset to the team. Self-proclaimed as the best jumper at the club, we're sure Head Coach Mikey would get nothing but pleasure from seeing this lad lace his boots up again.

🔴 Ryan Parkinson
Another Colts survivor hoping to make his open-age debut this season.
For another one who apparently has nothing upstairs... he's certainly got plenty on the rugby pitch! Ryan has played practically everywhere across the backline, providing fantastic versatility and healthy competition for places. A talented young player with a bright future ahead, and we're looking forward to seeing what he can produce this season.

🔴 Liam Hands "Handsy"
Liam is, hands down, the funniest member of the squad! Along with his comedy value, he brings a fantastic work ethic, endless enthusiasm and is always willing to lead from the front. His rugby union knowledge might be average, but his penalty count is phenomenal! All jokes aside, Liam is a fantastic player and an even better person to have back in the squad this season.

🔵 Jamie Owens
Jamie is one of the longest-serving members down at Cas... thanks to Grandad's wallet! A genuinely outstanding rugby player, Jamie has a habit of producing game-changing moments when they matter most. For a big teddy bear, his work ethic is second to none, and he always leads from the front every time he steps onto the pitch.

A brilliant front-row forward who can slot into a number of positions across the pack. One of the most elusive players in the squad, Josh is a real try-scoring machine and a fantastic asset to the team. Comfortable providing cover anywhere across the backline, his pace, skill and confidence make him a real weapon. A confident Josh Green is someone every opposition defence needs to keep an eye on.

🔴 Adam Craddock – "Crad"
One of the newly named Mitchell Brothers, Crad is a player we're delighted to have back in the squad following knee surgery. He provides excellent cover across the pack and brings plenty of physicality and experience whenever he's on the pitch. Although Adam has always been around the club, we're over the moon to have him back fit, available and playing again.

🔴 Connor Wilson – “Stinky”
Connor is an extremely talented player, and we are absolutely buzzing to have him back down at Cas! Another fantastic leader both on and off the pitch, Connor brings plenty to the squad — with the engine of a steam train and the strength of a baby rhino! A quality player and a great character to have back around the club. We’re excited to see Connor back out on the pitch and showing what he can do this season!

🔵 Morgan Jones – “Jonesy / Ross”
A brand-new addition to the club this year, with this being Morgan’s first-ever stint in Rugby Union — but he certainly hasn’t wasted any time making an impression! Morgan has been training at 110% throughout pre-season, helping drive standards with fitness levels that are quite frankly eye-watering! It’s already clear that Morgan is a very talented rugby player, and we can’t wait to see what he can do in a Castleford RUFC shirt.

Dec is a hugely adaptable forward who can play across several positions in the pack.

One of the longest-serving players down at Cas, with an incredible 22 years at the club! Mingle is a fantastic and versatile player who can slot into both the forwards and backs when needed. Known for his unreal ability to leap like a salmon, he’s also a great try scorer thanks to his support play and knack for being in the right place at the right time. A true Cas lad with plenty of experience to bring to the squad this season!
