Great to get in the boxing gym at to see my good friend and one of the best pad holders in the business Peter Shepperson. Peter is a pro and amateur boxing coach, but we go way back to when we were both young.
Also with me was my brother who is visiting. Ste is the owner/head instructor of Wolves Den MMA gym in Perth, Australia. He is also the Australian world MMA championship coach. Was great to get a session with them both. Even better when my son .ackjoness came to get his session in too. Even managed to get a few rounds on the pads with him.

Origin BJJ grading day.
Always great seeing people levelling up at the grading events. Watching people getting the credit they have worked so hard for over the years and months. All on their own personal journey of growth and skill. A lot of people outside the world of martial arts, and specifically BJJ, will not appreciate how much meaning a bit of coloured cloth can mean when it’s given to you. It represents a huge amount of work and sacrifice as well as an overall lifestyle choice. Huge congratulations to everyone who levelled up but especially to who achieved the accolade of the converted BJJ black belt. Great to watch it being presented to him by Origin head coach Dom Szikora. An amazing achievement after many years of hard work. Very well deserved.

Really good seminar today with multiple medal winner, ADCC and Polaris pro, Shane Curtis. Some excellent details and great coaching. I’m looking forward to hopefully incorporating them into the repertoire and trying them out. Thank you to for the invite and hosting the seminar.

Great weekend 4D Combat JKD/Kali camp with Guru Bob Breen.
Always a pleasure to learn from this UK legend.
We covered footwork, boxing, clinch, the ‘box’ and single stick.
As always it’s all in the details and making it ‘live’ and functional.
Know 5, master 3, own 1. Advanced techniques are basics done well.

Massive congratulations to my brother @ and his gym and their new Australian professional mma champion .bates . Winning the Australian title in a a 4th round by KO taking the title from the former champ. Awesome stuff,

Great New Year’s Eve Eve rolls with the Origin BJJ team. Great atmosphere, lovely to be moving about.

Great catching up and getting to train with my good friend Wayne Evans again. In the 90’s we met on the same fight show. Wayne went on to serve in the military and a few years later he trained with me for several years. He now lives in a different part of the country but it was great to move around with him over the Christmas break while he was visiting. Good luck to him when he goes home as he actually has a fight coming up in February.

Had the pleasure of training under the watchful eye of multiple time Muay Thai champion Jean Charles Skarbowsky today.
Jean Charles has been called one of the best non-Thai fighters to have ever fought in Thailand. He also famously appeared on the twelfth season of the American mixed martial arts reality television show The Ultimate Fighter, where he was the Muay Thai coach on Georges St-Pierre's team.
The seminar didn’t disappoint. It was a fantastic event with great coaching and some real golden nuggets of information around Jean Charles Skarbowsky’s style of Muay Thai. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fantastic news, my brother and Wolves Den MMA owner & head coach, , has been awarded his black belt in BJJ by John Will with Rigan Machado. It’s been a long time coming with an epic journey over decades. His years of dedication and his obvious ability has paid off with this recognition.
