Ever wondered what reformer Pilates is really like? Here's your chance to find out, gently and at your own pace.
Starting this August, we're running a Beginner Reformer Course every Wednesday, 5–6pm, taught by Claire. No experience needed — just a willingness to try something new and give yourself an hour that's entirely your own.
Over the course you'll build genuine strength, learn to move with better control and balance, and get proper one-to-one attention as you get to know the reformer. It's less about pushing hard and more about learning to nourish your body well.
Every Wednesday in August, 5–6pm
£88 for the course

If you've been thinking about trying Pilates but weren't sure where to start, I'm running a four-week beginner mat course starting Tuesday 30th June at 5pm.
It's designed for complete beginners — we start from scratch, take our time, and there's nothing to keep up with. Four sessions, everything included, £44 for the course.

Can I share something I find genuinely fascinating? 🌿
Every time you come to a Pilates class — mat, reformer, or weights — you are loading your body. And that loading is one of the kindest, most nourishing things you can do for yourself.
Here's why it matters so much, especially for women in midlife and beyond:
🦴 Bone density — weight-bearing and resistance exercise is one of the most effective ways to protect against osteoporosis. Your bones respond to load by getting stronger.
💪 Muscle and metabolism — resistance training preserves muscle mass as we age, keeping our metabolism active, our blood sugar steadier, and our energy levels higher.
🫀 Heart health and mood — the research on resistance training and mental wellbeing is genuinely remarkable. Stronger body, steadier mind.
⚖️ Balance and resilience — loading your body in controlled, mindful ways trains your nervous system to respond faster and catch you more reliably.
And here's the thing — mat Pilates has always been weight-bearing Pilates. Quadruped, swan, mermaid — these are loading exercises. They are the strong, intelligent foundation that reformer and weights work builds upon.
Not one type of class or the other. All of it, working together. 🌿

It's official. Our Pilates-Based Weights Class is now a permanent fixture on the timetable — and we couldn't be more excited. 🌿
When we ran the trial session earlier this year it sold out immediately, which told us everything we needed to know. You are ready for this.
Every Wednesday morning at 8:45am, Claire will guide you through a class that brings together the mindful precision of Pilates with the gentle power of small dumbbells. Eight carefully chosen exercises working your major muscle groups — slowly, intentionally, with balance and mobility work woven in between.
This isn't about lifting heavy or working harder. It's about building the kind of functional strength that quietly changes how you feel every single day. The kind that supports your heart, steadies your energy, and lets your body feel genuinely capable.
Dumbbells provided. All levels welcome. Same cost as a mat class — basic and gold mat memberships both apply.
First class: Wednesday 3rd June at 8:45am.

Darlington made history last Friday. Here are some more photos from the event this time last week. Thanks to our Friday reformer groups for understanding and we'll see you next week in half term instead.
Thank you to everyone who was so understanding about the change. Sometimes life gives you a moment you just have to show up for 🎶

Not your usual Friday morning for me... 🎺
Rory and his band were asked to play at the official opening of Darlington's new station section last Friday. It was a fab morning and one very proud mum in the audience.
Thank you for bearing with the class reshuffle. It was absolutely worth it and we have an extra lesson on Friday in half term instead 🥰

Have you ever heard me say the word tensegrity in class and wondered what on earth I was talking about? 😄
It's one of my favourite concepts in Pilates — and once you understand it, you start to feel it in every single exercise.
Tensegrity is the balance between tension and compression that allows a structure to be both strong AND flexible at the same time. Think of those incredible models where rigid rods are suspended in perfect balance by elastic cords — the rods never touch, yet the whole structure is incredibly strong. Neither the tension nor the compression is doing the work alone. It's the relationship between them that creates something extraordinary.
Your body works in exactly the same way. Your bones are the rods. Your muscles, fascia and connective tissue are the cords. When everything is in balance — when nothing is overworking or underworking — you move freely, you stand tall, and you're far less likely to get injured.
This is what we're really training in Pilates. Not just strength. Not just flexibility. But the intelligent relationship between the two. 🌿
