Home in a friendly. The hallowed turf may be scorched earth but get down to the Rec for 10:30 to see us ring in the new season with our first trial run out of the new campaign.

Snap cabin open, same old faces and the same old intellectual conversations will be held.

Gianni Infantino has tried to make football a commodity, we can’t even get our lads to pay their fines. Football will never be about money if you stay squeaky.

As the dust settles on another successful season, we’d like to thank everyone who made it possible this year 💙🖤

Firstly, to Sime and the lads for retaining both the Champions Cup and The KO Cup to make it a double for the Blue and Black once again. Wasn’t always easy, and we were up against it a few Sundays but cream always rises to the top. Another two in the cabinet and hungry for more next season 🏆🏆

We’d like to thank our sponsors for all their support - Merj Electrical, Nur Indian Restaurant, Phil Reed, Sir Daniel of Walker for the beer money and El Capitan with his various schemes through the season to keep us ticking over. We couldn’t do it without you, if you’d like to sponsor us next season details will follow in the week.

To the good people of Edlington, all the staff at Edlington Top Club over the years and to The Tumbler for giving us a new HQ and looking after us going forward - we appreciate all the support and we hope you’ll be with us next season as we look to take the lot once again.

The end of season awards saw Matty Barron take Managers’ and Players’ player with Canna taking Fan Favourite (how many pints did he pay on?!) and a bit of warm weather team building last weekend made sure everyone was relaxed and ready to go again in September.

So that’s that, England are still in the World Cup and preseason doesn’t begin until August. Only one thing left to do…

If there was ever any doubt or question about the character of this team, then they’re fully put to bed after that. Definition of a dogfight, Herons just seem to know how to play us - all respect to them bar a few bad apples but we’ve got 11 of em so it’s all fair game.

Was always gonna be cagey, a bit of a bogey team by all accounts for us. Can’t really wax lyrical about the match as it was fu***ng boring in fairness - always is with Herons, they just seem to box us in.

Goes to pens. We’ve never won a shootout. My man for herons kicks it towards Tickhill. Are we a bit back? Boults passes it to their keeper. Back level again. They miss. Grant Hill steps up. All I hear is the roar and the next thing you know we’re on the pitch.

El Capitan boss yet again, Pete Boults a different level - the only footballer who gets better with age. Ralphy chesting ball down and switching his cap around with 5 to go 🤣 It was his day - what a boy. Canna just unbelievable, I’d get up for work without an alarm if he was sat on end of bed. I would run through a brick wall for that beautiful angry short bastard.

Edlington Tumbler have won a double, retained both cups. Start your pre-seasons now because we’re having the lot next year. No gobsh*tes can spoil this party. We are the bo****ks. Champions again ole ole.

So we find ourselves here again, on the brink of another trophy. A trophy that will see us win the Cup Double, a trophy were out to retain and a trophy we don’t want to hand over lightly.

But Scawthorpe Herons, as we’ve seen this season, are game as pheasant and they won’t be rolling over for their bellies tickled, that can be assured.

Last game of the season, just one more win, one more Sunday session and then we can all go home. Get yourselves to Harworth and let’s see this through. From the first whistle…
