Just a reminder that due to the Bank Holiday there will be NO TRAINING on tomorrow night (04/05/2026).

Training will be back on as normal on Friday evening.

We're excited to announce that applications for next year's exec positions are now open! We will be accepting applications until 26th April 2026.

If you're interested in becoming an exec member, make a poster and send it to [email protected]. It should have the following information:
1. Your name (and a photo, if you'd like)
2. The position you are applying for
3. What you can bring to DU Aikido Club as an exec member
4. Anything else you want people to know!

On Monday the Prince Bishops and Durham University Aikido Club celebrated the promotion of four students by Tony Heseltine Shihan.

A very well done to Elliot Lucquin for successfully passing his 6th Kyu grading on Monday this week!

We were very pleased to have Shane Riley Shihan, head or our parent association White Rose Aikikai, come up to teach our class last Friday night. Sensei was pleased to teach some basics techniques and movements to the beginner students who've joined this term that were in attendance, as well as giving existing students new ideas, views and techniques. He enjoyed the spirit of the dojo during the training and the questions in the pub afterwards.

We hope he will visit us again in the new year. He is an extremely experienced Sensei, with over 50 years experience of aikido.

Tomorrow is the last Sunday of October, which means it's the end of British Summer Time and the clocks will go back by 1 hour at 2 a.m. Don't forget to set your clocks and have a nice weekend!

We have a special guest teaching our session today. Sensei Riley is the founder of our Aikido federation, White Rose Aikikai, and this is a great opportunity to be taught by him. The session starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm. Hope to see you at the mat!
