Big turn out for our U16s and U14s last night! The girls put the effort in and produced some great handling and strong comms 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Lovely to see also that newer players are already catching up with their more experienced teammates ❤️‍🔥 What a session!

🏉✨ MATCH REPORT ✨🏉

The U16 girls have played twice in the past month and the improvement between the two games is massive! 💪🏼 The Dragonflies are carrying the ball with confidence, offloading and communicating much better on the pitch. They are also turning over the ball at ruck time and the set pieces looked great on Sunday ⚡️

This is all because of the hard graft the team have put in in training and spectators were surprised to hear this was only the girls’ third ever game! 🥳 Massive well done!

💙💛 U16 NEWS 💙🩵

On Sunday the Dragonflies U16s teamed up again with Bishop Auckland to take on a Darlington-Gateshead-Redcar combined team and absolutely smashed it out of the park! The growth in confidence, skills and comms since the last game was evident and the girls’ much improved handling got them two wonderful tries 🔥🔥 The set pieces worked well too with Durham-Bishop contesting every line out and working hard in the scrum ⚡️ There were some great passages of play and some fantastic tackles, and most importantly the girls never gave up and left the pitch smiling💪🏼 We also had a few debuts as the team keeps growing in numbers, and the new players did absolutely amazing on their first outing 🎉 It was lovely to see lots of people on the touch lines including some of our U12 & U14 girls who came to support! 🙏🏼

Big shout out to all the girls for putting in the work at training and working hard for each other on their pitch! The coaches couldn’t be prouder and it’s fantastic to end the first half of the season on a high 🏉💙💛

🗞️ MATCH REPORT 🗞️

Last weekend City’s U16 Dragonflies teamed up with Bishop Auckland to take on Redcar in the first game of the season 🔥 Redcar were tough and well drilled opponents who challenged our girls to play their best rugby ⚡️ City-Bishop worked hard in defence, put in some great hits and supported the ball carrier well. They also scored the opening try of the game! 🚀

The girls have been training together regularly and the hard work showed on the pitch in how they gelled as a team 💙💛💙🩵 We can’t wait to see them all on the pitch again soon!

The Red Roses are taking on Canada tomorrow at 4 pm in the Rugby World Cup finals 🔥 The game will be shown at the club, so bring your friends and family and enjoy the show 🏆🌹🏉

Our U12s and U14s kicked off their season last Sunday joining forces with Houghton and winning all of their games 🎉🏉 The girls have been working hard this preseason and we are chuffed that their progress is shining through on the pitch 🥁🙌🏼

Everyone’s invited to watch the senior women 🐲 take on Yarm at 2 pm on their first fixture of the season - including some of the girls’ coaches 🤩 - followed by a Red Roses watch party at 4 pm as they take on Scotland in the World Cup quarterfinal 🌹

There will also be food, fun and games so come down from 2 pm and join the fun!
