This time 3 years ago we were completing day 3 and 4 of our Mount Everest Basecamp trek.
We started day 3 with a 3am rise to travel by bus for 5 hours to Ramschaap airport to then find that no planes were allowed to fly unless there was 90% visibility. Mainly due to us flying into the most dangerous airport in the world, Lukla Airport.
So after a long wait, the pub was the logical place to head, where we may have drank more than we should have ๐
Which was massively regretted at our 5am rise the next day๐คฎ
Where again the flights couldn't fly.
So helicopters were negotiated at a massive cost but it meant we got to fly.
But that came with a midair detour due to weather for half of our group (us included) which resulted in our first long trek which was roasting too and our first night trek of around 7 hours to our accommodation to be greeted with potatoes and Yaks cheese.
That was a tough introduction to our trek.
But bed then the proper start to our journey on day 4.
A nice little 10 hour walk to around 2500m.
Stunning views, temperature in the mid 20ยฐs and a good chance to meet the group properly. But at this point we were realising just how tough this was going to be.
Only 2 days into the journey and we've been in the pub, on a helicopter, walked for hours, been burnt with the heat, ate Yaks cheese and this was the easy bit.
