📢Core Team Request!📢
Would you like to look as cheerful as Henry does in this photo? Would you like to join our core team? Well we would love to hear from you!
We are looking for a few extra Run Directors as part of our team, due to some family commitments coming up over the next few months we would love to make our team a bit bigger. We certainly wouldn't be asking for parkrun to take over your life but it would just mean helping out every so often. As an RD you will get training and we will make sure you are feeling comfortable to be a Beacon Parkrun RD.
Interested? Please feel free to pop us an email to [email protected] and we can answer any questions you might have.
Thanks again!

Well that was a most enjoyable way to start the weekend!
Well done to all 418 of you who joined us this morning for Beacon parkrun number 251.
Congratulations to the 15 of you who finished your first ever parkrun - hope to see you again soon.
We welcomed tourists from Walsall (not Warsaw) and Worcester with 58 runners running at Beacon for the first time.
No one owned up to any milestones but a few of you hit them (official and unofficial) so well done to 👏:
300 - George
150 - Shawn
50 - Oliver & Peter
25 - Louis, Kelly, Katie & Becky
A massive thank you to the 39 superstars who made it all happen. As I said at the start things were looking a bit dicey but you really stepped up. Thanks to everyone who came forward at the end to offer to help tomorrow too - I’ll see you there!
Please, please do think about whether you can volunteer - it’s a lot of fun and really rewarding - you might end up with the 📣 one day. It can be hard to fill the roster in the summer so please do shout out of you can help (and you don’t have to wait until the last minute 😉).
Thanks again all - I’m off to do some DIY and some parkrun touristing next week when Jane is on RD duty!
Have a great rest of the weekend.
Henry (RD 01.08.2026)

The roster is sorted - thank you
It’s holiday season and the next few weeks also have lots of roster gaps. Please look ahead and if you can volunteer one week we’d be really grateful
See you all tomorrow

Have you ever wondered how you can get a run credit and a volunteer credit at the same Beacon Parkrun ….. how about becoming one of our guide runners for our regular visually impaired runners?
We have a core group but we are always keen to bring others on board. All you need to be in a good communicator and be able to run faster than the VI runners ( sub 35/sub 40). We have another runner who is visually impaired who will also be looking for a guide later in the year, her guide needs to be sub 50.
There is not a huge commitment, you just volunteer when you fancy.
We are happy for you to tag along one week to see what it’s about, or you can just go for it!
We asked Hazel what she gets from guiding our VI runners
“ If you’ve ever thought about guiding a visually impaired runner at parkrun, I’d really encourage you to give it a go. Sarah and Aletea are both lovely, great company, and guiding takes far less than you might think. It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone achieve their goals while doing parkrun from a whole new perspective.”
Dave has shared his experience too
“Helping out as a VI guide has been a pleasure - the two runners are lovely to chat to while going round the course and it's been great to be able to help them take part in parkrun regularly”
So if you think you’d like to find out a bit more please reply to this post or email [email protected]
