New mamas ❤️

How are you getting on in these early months of motherhood?

I think a lot about how much mums give of themselves during this first year. Motherhood is a precious role but in our world right now,, it’s very rarely easy.

The feeding, the carrying, the soothing, the constant thinking ahead. The endless to-do lists that seem to run quietly in the background all day long.

Even in the most beautiful moments, it can feel as though there’s very little space left for you. Now I get torn here because I think this is how it’s supposed to be, ‘Motherbaby’ is one word.

But we are in a culture where many new mums are isolated, and not supported by wider family & community in the way that we would have been a generation ago.

That’s why I’ve created ‘The Mother’s Pause’, it’s an afternoon getaway for new mums.

The Mother’s Pause
A nurturing afternoon for new mums to rest, restore and reconnect

Sunday 6th September 2.30 - 5.30pm
Liverpool Womens Hospital
£35 - includes delicious healthy refreshments

Not as another thing to do, or another class to fit into a busy week, but as a gentle invitation to stop for a little while and simply be looked after.

For one afternoon, you can put down the mental load, soften tired muscles, take a deep breath and reconnect with yourself.

Together, we’ll move through gentle postnatal yoga, restorative movement, guided breath and meditation and deep relaxation. Nothing strenuous. Nothing to achieve. Just time and space to rest, restore and refill your cup.

There will be nourishing treats, moments of stillness, and the chance to connect with other mums who truly understand this season of life. You’ll need a blanket 😉

Motherhood asks so much of us. We spend so much time responding to everyone else’s needs that we can forget our own.

This afternoon is a reminder that you matter too.

If you’re longing for a little breathing space, a little calm, or simply an opportunity to rest without needing to be anything for anyone else, I would love for you to join us.

You deserve that pause.

Last Wednesday at 41 weeks pregnant, Lorna made her way to her last ‘Jenni Jones pregnancy yoga’ class … she looked so ready and I joked that ‘baby just wanted to finish the course’ ❤️😉🥰

Towards the end of class, I asked her a question, inviting her to share some her experiences, Lorna couldn’t focus, her words came out slow and strange … I knew something was up … moments later she whispered ‘my waters are trickling’ 😳

I offered to take her home but she said she was fine and dashed off …

In her words:

“I arrived home just before 8pm after having a few mild contractions on the drive home.

We called the midwife to give her a heads up and then my hubby started setting up the pool as I was having them every ten mins and we wanted to be prepared!

At about 9pm they were coming every 2 mins and I started needing to really focus on them! I was struggling to follow a breathing pattern and had to surrender and make as much noise as I needed.

By 10pm it was intense and they became back to back with no breaks in between each contraction, I got in the pool which made it easier to cope and then my body just started to push instead.

We had a healthy beautiful baby BOY!

His big sister came downstairs and saw him come into the world! (just in time)”

Congratulations 📍 Liverpool 📍 Toddler & Baby nature classes 🌳 Forest play on the birth of your baby boy but also on being the second mama to have her waters break in pregnancy yoga in 12 months ❤️ 🥳

Thank you for coming to all my classes, for being in my promo films and for a being such a kind, heart lead, magic wielding, community leading, beautiful mama & sister in our city 💯

As an aside, I like to offer my classes, especially the final class of the course, as a “divine timing oxytocin filled natural onset of labour support” it’s always a great place to be at 40 plus weeks ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I can’t guarantee it, but it might just be tgat extra dose of oxytocin you didn’t know you needed ❤️❤️❤️

Bumps together in the sunshine ❤️❤️❤️ after class last night ❤️

It was WARM!

So we moved slowly, practiced positions and breathing techniques for birth.

After class there was that wonderful sound of chatter … some Mums close to meeting their babes, others still weeks and months to go.

Big and small bumps, every one of us ‘warm’ and I’m looking forward to hearing your news ❤️

Thanks ladies for these piccies, absolutely love them ❤️❤️❤️

Looking forward to upcoming workshops and ‘summer pregnancy yoga school’ in Liverpool Women's University Hospital in August ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks to everyone who came to this course, it was great meeting each week and watching bumps grow 🙏🏼

I was at a birth once …

I feel it’s a great privilege to get to say those words.

Over 20 years of attending births and each one has left its mark on my heart.

In my birth preparation classes and workshops, I often share moments from real birth stories and snippets from two decades of being a doula.

Some stories will make you smile, some may bring a tear, but each one offers a glimpse into the beautiful, unpredictable and very human experience of birth.

My hope is that these stories help you feel more connected to birth, more prepared for the journey ahead, and reminded that every birth story is unique

I was trained by michel_odent_ru and the magical Lilliana ❤️ incredible teachers who captured me with their love for women and birth.

They taught me the power of curiosity, humility, having a beginners mind with every woman because the truth is, we don’t know how your labour is going to be and that’s ok 🙏🏼

Attending my first training with them back in2005 set me on a trajectory and I’ve been saying ever since ‘I was at a birth once …’ and what comes next will teach you something show you something about the reality, wonder, power, enormity and very human experience that is birth ❤️

To all the women who’s stories are stored in my heart, thank you ❤️

I have a few women in my life who I describe as ‘women I wouldn’t go to war without … ‘

is one of them ❤️

Decades of friendship, years of yoga, singing, dancing and soul sister’ing even though we don’t get to hang out a lot on recent years I knows she’s there, doing her thing, teaching, loving, guiding, drumming and dancing her way through life …

This morning we got to walk of the beach, make red clover tea and chat about life and love and what’s ’lighting up our hearts’ these days ✨

I don’t know if there is enough said about the teachers and healers working quietly, no big marketing or sexy reels, just busy taking care of people who come their way ❤️

Thanks Chelsea for your infectious love of life, your gypsy soul and hot tea in the van!

High five to all the hard working, humble teachers & guides, loving life and navigating these changing times shining the light for all that’s good … ❤️

An ‘oxytocin rich’ morning at the ‘couples workshop’ this morning …

Making our way through birth preparation with movement, breath and understanding the role of the birth partner.

By the end of the workshop we were in a room thick with oxytocin, women softer, more relaxed feeling ready to meet their babies and Dads feeling more confident in the role they need to play. There is a lot we can to keep adrenaline low and encourage feel good relaxed, loving hormones to flow ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you to these two beauties for letting me take this piccy ❤️❤️❤️ and thanks to everyone who came … I’m really looking forward to hearing your news ❤️❤️❤️

Over 30 weeks?

Is your partner your birth partner?

You are invited to my Couples Oxytocin Workshop.

I created this workshop from my doula training and experience 🙏🏼 I’ve been a doula for 20 years and I’ve lost count of how many births I’ve attended in that time ❤️

Michel Odent coined the phrase ‘the basic needs of a woman in labour’ and I suspect they are embedded into my very bones …

I’m passionate about Dads being prepared and effective in the birth room … by the end of this workshop they will have a clear understanding of their role and the simple things they can do to support you in labour … 🙏🏼

Birth matters, birth partners and the things they do or don’t do can make all the difference to your birth, no pressure, but it’s a big deal.

If you’d like to come along, give me a shout ❤️
