We teach Shotokan Karate Karate (空手) is a martial art developed in the Ryukyu Islands in what is now Okinawa, Japan.

It was developed from indigenous fighting methods called te (手, literally "hand"; Tii in Okinawan) and Chinese kenpō. Karate is a striking art using punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes, and open-handed techniques such as knife-hands. Grappling, locks, restraints, throws, and vital point strikes are taught in some styles. A karate practitioner is called a karateka (空手家). Karate was developed

🥋 MSK Inter-Club Competition – Sunday 12th July 🥋

⏰ Deadline: Sunday 5th July
Please make sure entries and payments are submitted before the deadline as entries can only be accepted once payment has been received.

This competition is all about giving children the opportunity to:
✅ Experience competition in a friendly environment
✅ Build confidence and develop their karate
✅ Meet and compete against students from other clubs
✅ Have fun and make memories
✅ Leave with something to show for their efforts

As always, this is a grassroots event focused on participation, inclusion, and bringing clubs together from across the association. It's being held just one week before the summer holidays.

🥊 Important Kumite Equipment Information

In line with WKF Youth League rules and current safeguarding guidance, all students under the age of 14 are encouraged to wear:
• Head Guard
• External Chest Protector

Ideally, all competitors in these age groups should wear the correct protective equipment. However, students may still be entered for Kumite without this equipment, with participation remaining at the discretion of their coach.

• Kata – £10
• Kumite – £10
• Spectators (16+) – £2

With the warm weather coming we are providing (free to our students) club crested t-shirts to train in.

We held a grading last night for our red belts who were going for their next belt, yellow (8th kyu). They all did really well with the instructions called out in Japanese and they were all able to identify and perform the techniques.
