Three weeks into working with a proper powerlifting coach and I already feel like I’ve learned more than I expected.
Biggest thing? My bench has definitely been my weakness and honestly I’d been getting a lot of it wrong. But with all of Ste’s help, cues, and adjustments, things are finally starting to click and I’m starting to feel the difference already.
Another comp in June, so right now it’s all about improving week by week, trusting the coaching, and focusing on the process rather than chasing numbers every session.
Still loads to improve, but I’m excited to see where this takes me 💪🏾

Today I was tired.
Lacked motivation.
Could not be arsed.
Did I go anyway?
Absolutely! Because discipline wins every time .
100kg back squats on today’s programme. Banked! 💥
Only I at the ripe old age of 42 could choose a sport that requires me to bend my body into positions 8 year old freestyle dancer me would have been proud of 🤣
Who knew all those years ago I was actually training for powerlifting bench setup all along 💀
Your body is allowed to look human 👏🏽
Not every session is about changing your body.
Some are about saving your mind.
Same body.
Same minute.
Same mirror.
One pose tightens everything up.
The other relaxes.
That’s how easy it is to change what a body “looks like” online.
Social media is full of angles, lighting, posing, filters, sucking in, flexing, and carefully chosen moments. Your body is not failing because it doesn’t look “perfect” 24/7.
Bodies move. Skin folds. Stomachs bloat. Posture changes.
And none of that changes your worth.
Stop comparing yourself to highlight reels and edited snapshots.
Real bodies look different from one second to the next — and that’s completely normal.
Someone said to me this week that she’s joined a commercial gym first to “get fit enough” to come here.
That’s not how we work at WatFit.
Whether you’re fit, overweight, an athlete, completely out of shape, nervous, or a total beginner — you are welcome here.
Everything is scaled to suit YOU.You work at a level that feels comfortable and manageable for your body and your fitness right now.
Please don’t ever feel scared to join or even just message for advice.
I’d happily get you in for a 1-1 first if it helps calm your nerves or makes settling in easier.
We are not about “one size fits all.”We have people of all ages, sizes, abilities, and confidence levels training in the same class — and sometimes they’re not even doing the exact same workout.
That’s because fitness should be inclusive. Our job is to help people, not intimidate them.
Please don’t try and do it alone again. Please don’t give up because you don’t know what to do.
We can help ❤️
Back on the barbell. Deadlift day.
After HYROX trip with the girls, my birthday trip, missed sessions, and my mam’s memorial all hitting at once… I genuinely questioned if competing in powerlifting was the right path for me. Felt like I’d let myself down.
But today reminded me exactly who I am.
120 moving like butter.
Getting a coach and committing to this was the right decision. Changes needed to be made 100% and that’s on me but I’m ready for the challenge now.
Loved today’s session 💪🏾
