In this clip, Ewan helps Millie turn with the ball using fewer touches. It might seem like a small adjustment, but these are the moments that can completely change a player’s efficiency, speed of play, and confidence on the ball.

What makes Ewan such a fantastic coach is his ability to spot these tiny details that others often miss. He understands that player development isn’t always about teaching something new sometimes it’s about refining what a player is already doing and helping them do it better.

At our sessions, we’re constantly looking for those coaching moments that can unlock improvement. The players who improve the fastest are often the ones who listen, apply the details, and repeat them consistently.

In this clip, Finn pauses the session to help Oliver with his first touch and ball placement before striking the ball. These little adjustments can make a huge difference to the quality of the technique.

One key point we focus on when teaching ball striking is the angle of the run up. Approaching the ball at an angle rather than in a straight line allows players to generate better body shape, balance, and power through the strike.

Great coaching isn’t always about creating new drills it’s about recognising teachable moments and helping players understand the details that improve performance.

A lot of people see drills like this and think they’re basic. But the reality is that football is often decided by who can execute the fundamentals consistently under pressure.

The world’s best players don’t become elite because they can do the spectacular every week. They become elite because they pass, receive, move and finish with incredible detail, over and over again.

That’s why we place so much importance on these moments in training. Quality first touch. Correct body shape. Sharp passing. Positive movement. Composed finishing.

Simple doesn’t mean easy.
