I’m just back from two wonderful weeks in Cornwall and this afternoon I was straight back into it, prepping for tomorrow.

The first thing I wanted to do was cut some fresh flowers from the garden and put them in the studio ready for the morning.

My husband is still moaning at me about it. 😂 He genuinely couldn’t understand why, after two weeks away, flowers were my priority.

But it made me think about why it matters to me.

I want my studio to feel welcoming, calm, warm, safe — and yes, feminine.

When I first started strength training, it felt weird, cold and very intimidating. But it doesn’t have to be like that.

Strength can be strong and soft. Challenging and welcoming.

I wanted to create a place where women feel comfortable, supported and completely at home, whilst getting stronger and looking after their health and fitness.

So tomorrow I’ll be back doing what I love — coaching the wonderful women of Caversham in my little garden studio.

And yes, there will be flowers. My husband will just have to get over it. 😂

🚶‍♀️ The UK’s NEW physical activity guidelines have just dropped... and I LOVE the message!
The focus isn’t on being perfect or smashing workouts every day.
Instead, it’s about moving more, every day.
✨ Every movement counts.
✨ Small amounts are better than none.
✨ Build movement into your daily life.
✨ Choose activities you genuinely enjoy.
✨ Keep sitting to a minimum and break up long periods of inactivity.
✨ Include strength and balance work at least twice a week.
The goal isn’t just to hit 150 minutes a week—it’s to create a lifestyle where movement is part of your everyday routine.
Whether it’s walking the dog, dancing in the kitchen, gardening, strength training, swimming, playing tennis or taking the stairs instead of the lift... it all counts.
Regular movement helps reduce the risk of:
❤️ Heart disease
🧠 Stroke
🩸 Type 2 diabetes
🎗️ Some cancers
..while improving mental wellbeing, strength, balance, independence and quality of life.
One of my favourite quotes from the Chief Medical Officers’ report is:
“If physical activity were a drug, we would refer to it as a miracle cure, due to the great many illnesses it can prevent or treat.”
So don’t wait for Monday.
Don’t wait until you have an hour for the perfect workout .
Just move today... because every movement counts. And the best exercise is the one you actually want to do! What’s the one exercise you never get bored of ? Mine is rowing - 🚣 on the water, on the rowing machine , with a barbell, dumbbell or kettlebell or even a resistance band 😎

What’s in my freezer? 👀❄️

It’s been a busy weekend, payday hasn’t arrived yet, and this is exactly why I always keep a few freezer staples on hand.

Today’s dinner starts with:
🥒 Frozen courgettes
🫑 Frozen peppers
🫛 Frozen green beans

Then I’ll add:
🌱 A source of protein such as chicken, turkey, prawns, tofu, beans, lentils or eggs.
🌾 A wholegrain option. I always batch cook mine and freeze it in individual portions, so it’s ready to go. Some of my favourites are freekeh, bulgur wheat and quinoa.

Frozen vegetables are just as nutritious as fresh, they last for months, help reduce food waste and can save you money too.

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. A few simple freezer staples can help you put together a balanced meal in minutes, even when life is busy or payday is still a few days away.

What are your freezer staples? 👇

Still trying to absorb all I have learnt over the last few days, the people I talked to and the people I listened to - I am blown away by your knowledge and expertise but mostly the desire to do good and be better and help others do the same. I feel incredibly blessed to have the chance for a second career where I can truly make a difference in my own small way, helping one woman at a time be more confident , learn to eat well and enjoy all the benefits that exercise can bring.

This Anchovy and Fennel Salad is a delicious combination of crisp fennel and savoury anchovies. As well as being full of flavour, it is super low in calories for a side dish or snack and provides nearly 6g of fibre per portion, which is about 20% of the recommended daily fibre target of 30g for adults. Fibre is important for healthy digestion and can help prevent constipation. It also helps you feel fuller for longer, which can be particularly helpful when trying to lose fat or manage your weight. It’s also one of the best salad dressings I’ve ever made .. and I LOVE salad 😁. Here is the recipe if you want to try it https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/recipe/fennel-anchovy-salad. What’s your favourite salad combination? 🥗👇 TrainSmartEatWellBeStrong

🏃‍♀️ HAPPY GLOBAL RUNNING DAY 🏃‍♀️
Today is a celebration of one of the simplest and most powerful forms of movement available to us… running (and let’s not forget jogging and walking too!).
Running doesn’t require an expensive gym membership, fancy equipment or hours of free time. In fact, all you really need is a good pair of trainers and somewhere to put one foot in front of the other.
Here in Caversham, we’re incredibly lucky to have miles of beautiful, largely flat running routes along the Thames right on our doorstep. Whether you’re training for a race, jogging with friends, mixing walking and running intervals, or simply getting outside for some fresh air, every step counts.
The benefits of running and other aerobic exercise are well established:
✅ Lower risk of heart disease
✅ Lower risk of stroke
✅ Lower risk of Type 2 diabetes
✅ Improved mental wellbeing
✅ Reduced stress and anxiety
✅ Better sleep
✅ Improved confidence and self-esteem
Current UK guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week, and the evidence is clear: regular movement is one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental health.
The best exercise is the one you enjoy enough to do consistently.
So today, take a moment to celebrate movement, fresh air, strong legs and what we’re capable of when we keep showing up.
How are you moving today?

Two different marketing messages yet both products contain the same amount of protein. I’m not saying one product is better than the other, but the front of the packet only tells part of the story. Next time you are shopping take a few seconds to read the nutrition panel on the back so you can make an informed choices .

I’m addicted to this mid morning snack. It’s so simple yet packed full of nutrients, fibre and plant protein. Give it a whirl 😋
