Delph Side is everything a primary school should be; fun, exciting, caring and forward thinking! We don’t know what jobs our children will do in the future, in fact they might not even exist yet, but at Delph Side we strive to equip our learners with the skills needed, not only to make them successful, but to go beyond that and exceed expec
tations, the sky’s the limit! My name is Liz Ormerod and I am proud to be the Headteacher of Delph Side Community Primary School. Having approximately 240 children across our school, we cater for children from the ages of 2 to 11 and everyone feels part of our very special school family. Our teachers are EXCEPTIONAL, providing quality, tailored learning for each and every child, every day. We really do "Make the Difference" . Every single day. This was made official when we were crowned....
'Primary School of the Year" at the Pearson Teaching Awards on the BBC! We believe that schools are stronger when they work together and that this provides better opportunities for our children. We love to work with other schools to ensure we are constantly learning from one another to ensure our children continue to receive the best provision and opportunities . We are proud to work with Edge Hill University, knowing that we can support the future of teaching – Delph Side is an exceptional place to learn, for everyone! Sport and wellbeing is important to us too. As a member of the West Lancashire Sports Partnership, and an accredited Forest School, all our children access high quality sport events and competitions to promote a love of sport and a healthy lifestyle. We invite in professional coaching staff from the West Lancashire School Partnership to ensure PE lessons, in every discipline, are taught to the highest standard. However, we recognise that sport is a great leveller and success means different things to different people so we are also keen to support inclusive events, we just want our children to be active! I almost forgot to mention our brilliant Breakfast Club that is totally free and open from 7.45am to ensure our children can start their day in the best possible way! After school, we have our 'Learning Zone'. It is our after school club which is open to pupils from Delph Side. Our Governing Body is incredibly supportive in all that we do and visit the school regularly to challenge and support leaders to ensure we maintain high standards and move forward as an organisation. Our whole school community works together to live our values:

We were last inspected by OFSTED in January 2020 and we were very proud to be graded as ‘Good’ in all areas. Our door is always open, please call by and meet our wonderful team and have a tour of our fantastic school – it’s a great family, who really do “make the difference”. Every day is an 'open day', so come down and see the magic for yourself! Liz Ormerod

Year 3 are enjoying their Outdoor and Adventurous PE sessions! 💪
Today’s challenge was the Millipede Dash 🐛- working as a team to keep the hoops touching as they moved… trickier than it sounds! 😅 Great teamwork on show . Well done Year 3! 👏
Reception have loved their first after-school club, Funky Fingers. We have been taking part in activities that strengthen the muscles in our fingers, which helps to improve fine motor skills. These skills are important for tasks such as writing, drawing, cutting, and everyday independence.

Year 1 have had a brilliant day! We went for a walk this morning to spot some human and physical features of geography. When we got back to school, we looked at the route we had taken on an aerial photograph and identified what we had seen. Following that, the children sketched their own maps of the local area - they could all talk about the human & physical features on their maps! https://delphside.lancs.sch.uk/blog/2026-06-18-16-40-geography-walk-18-06
