Another enjoyable day out on Famous with 27 Hounds, 21 Bass (no keepers) and 1 lonely Dog carded.

Laszlo took the honours with a 108cm Hound@11lb 5oz, Kev finding a rich area of Bass, Graham with a new 93cm Hound PB. The range of scores are spread around the boat so it seems that seats drawn may have little effect on the outcome.

High tide: 10:30am
Fishing times: 7:30am-12:00pm
Weather: Hot, very hot and not a breath of wind!

No trip south through the Dartford tunnel or busy beaches/piers this week, instead a relatively local venue. The eleven members that made the trip on Sunday were rewarded with a glorious day in a very peaceful setting and several good sized Bass. I’d almost describe it as an idyllic location, not words you usually associate with Rainham but I for one will certainly think about revisiting when I have spare bait and want a bit of peace and quiet.

Everyone registered a catch of fish with a minimum 18cm - 54 Bass (several undersized fish were also landed), and 1 Flounder - strangely no Eels after a decent number from Tilbury recently.

Sunday 2nd August
Samphire Hoe

I always look forward to this one - a tricky one to fish this,and a snaggy venue where rigs and tactics need to be different to most other venues, but the variety fish you can catch make it an enjoyable day out. Nice to try a spot of float fishing here but a fresh breeze from the North East put that idea to bed so minimal flapper rigs with short snoods were the order of the day.

It can also be a bit of a struggle to land sizeable fish and many below 18cm - Wrasse, Blenny, Pouting, Goby were caught on the day.

However, 38 fish were on the scorecards - 23 Ballan Wrasse, 1 Corkwing Wrasse, 10 Pouting, 1 Strap Conger, 2 Pollack. 1 Blenny.

Tilbury
26th July

Another good turnout by 19 members, the best this year, including 3 Lady members all catching, for the 9am-2.30pm match.

53 fish were recorded - 27 Bass, 19 Eels, 4 Flounders & 3 Soles - Martin Lee winning the Sole Hunt with 21cm as no catch was recorded in the 1st leg.

Sunday 12th July

Another lovely day to be out and 16 members showed up to fish Erith Pier from 8.30am-1.30pm.
11 recorded fish with a minimum of 18cm, 5 tried but unfortunately blanked.
36 fish were recorded - 1 Grey Mullet 5oz for James, 2 Flounders, 6 Eels, and 27 Bass - 1 of Martin's went 6lb 13oz.

Nice to see two Juniors both recording catches too.
