Amazing start from the Blacks as Freddie and Harris show their tricky feet in the middle of the pitch. A close chance for Oscar as the keeper gets a toe to the ball and out for a corner. Good tracking back from George and Layton as Layton clears the danger. A 1-2 from Oscar and Harris almost set the blacks away. Fantastic battling in the middle by Cody not letting the opposition get a foot on the ball. George and Harris defending in pairs keeps the threat minimal.

Great pace and footwork sees a shot just drift wide from Freddie. A great save from Oliver as the opposition have a good shot on goal, parried away from danger. Another wonderful save from Oliver as he rushes out 1 on 1 to smother the ball.

Pressure from the opposition almost paid off if not for the great defending from George and Layton. The blacks break away with Freddie up the wing who's shot just hits the side netting. Good defending from Oscar set Layton away whose cross almost set Freddie up for a neat finish.

2nd quarter
Good battling from the blacks as Frankie's clearance sees out the danger. Fantastic strong tackle from Oscar sets David off with the ball whose lovely pass finds Freddie as he drifts inside to get his shot away that is saved by the keeper.

Strong defending from Layton and Oscar as they keep clearing the ball so the opposition can't get in on our goal. Fast reactions from Oliver in the sticks as the ball ricochets off our own player for Oliver to make a great save.

Fantastic tenacity from Oscar and David as David's slide tackle stops the opposition in their tracks. Layton gets away with the ball and blazes the ball just wide of the post in what would have been some goal. Another fast off the line reaction from Oliver as he dives on the ball at the oppositions feet to stop any shot getting through.

Rapid pace from Freddie as he dribbles through the defence, the ball is cleared and falls to Harris whose long range shot aiming for the top corner is saved and out for a corner.

Half time team talk and a few changes, the blacks ready to come out and try get some goals on the scoreboard.

A great cross from Cody was almost put in by Freddie and Layton as the opposition
goalkeeper did just enough to keep it out, a long range shot from David just went wide. Great tracking back and slide tackle from David to win the ball back. Good defending from George and Oliver to close the ball down and shut down the attacks.

Great defending from David and Cody let the ball roll to Oliver
Great trickery from Oliver at the back as his composed feet set the blacks up for another attack. Lovely one on one defending from Cody makes sure the opposition can't break the blacks defence.
4th quarter
Fantastic composure in the middle by Cody as he dictates the play, the ball played through to David who's shot just goes wide of the post. The no giving up attitude from the blacks sees them all tracking back to get a foot in as the opposition manage to get a shot away in what Frankie would have had covered.

Great work from the Blacks as the good dribbling by David played Harris in the middle
Good footwork in and around the goal sees an opposition strike just sneak under our goalkeeper for a strike back from the opposition. Good save from Frankie as an opposition free kick was on target and needed the safe hands from Frankie to parry wide. Good ball over the top from Oliver almost set the blacks on another attack.

Another fantastic save by Frankie down low to stop. As the opposition pour on the pressure Harris has a block of the day as he slides in on a shot on target to stop the goal going in!

Great work from the blacks trying to push up the pitch as David passes to Oscar who's shot hits the post and goes wide in what almost saw his first goal for the Blacks. Fantastic strength by Cody as he protects the ball from the opposition seconds after getting a last minute block to stop a goal going in, great block by Cody!

Fantastic game of football, where the blacks really stuck it out in a tense finish to protect what they had done throughout the other 3 quarters. Last minute blocks from Harris and Cody really showing the fight the Blacks have at the minute.

U10 Whites
The team put in a determined performance away at Thornes, showing plenty of effort, skill and fantastic team spirit across all four quarters.

Dexter got things going with a good save in the opening quarter, while Nayan made a great attempt at the other end. Bobs also made a strong run down the left wing, helping the team push forward and create chances.

Nayan took his turn in goal during the second quarter and made several excellent saves to keep the opposition at bay. Bailey worked hard in midfield, making some great attacking runs, while Dexter caused problems from the corners and Jack had a strike on goal. One of the match’s memorable moments came when Bailey was sent flying in a challenge. Dexter was straight there to back up his teammate, and the whole team showed they were ready to stand together with fire in their bellies, a brilliant display of team spirit!

The third quarter brought Mathew strong in defence, striking the ball clear when Thornes threatened. Dexter came close to adding another with a powerful strike that narrowly missed the net. Nayan also showed great confidence and skill, taking on several players and getting past them. Atter Dexter was challenged, the team won a free kick and had another chance to attack.

In the final quarter, Bailey struck the ball well, but his effort was deflected. Woody stepped into goal, and Mathew continued to make important clearances as the team worked hard right to the final whistle. Nayan rounding off a strong finish to the match.

Leeds City Juniors v Tingley Athletic U14s

The under 14 boys took on Leeds City Juniors for the second week in succession, this time travelling up to Weetwood for the away fixture, hoping for a repeat of last week’s victory.

The first half was fairly evenly matched, with Tingley struggling to find their usual intensity and fluency. They came close midway through the half when Harvey broke clear on the left and send a great shot narrowly over. Moments later, after some determined work by Louie in midfield, Harvey sent another powerful shot in from distance which the home keeper tipped over. Then, after Dan was fouled following some neat footwork, Thomas sent the resulting free kick narrowly wide.

The home team found their way into the game and took the lead after 25 mins, capitalising when Tingley didn’t successfully clear the ball.

Tingley weren’t playing at their usual level, but found an equaliser on the stroke of half time when Harry Blades found Harvey down the left and he finished superbly to take us into half time at 1-1. The equaliser came at just the right time, and proved to be the pivotal moment in the match.

With the half time team talk still ringing in their ears, no sooner had the second half kicked off than Tingley took the lead. Thomas confidently brought the ball out from the back to find Harvey, and he again showed great pace and composure to find the far corner to make it 1-2 to the visitors.

Tingley were in the groove now and a few minutes later extended their lead when Leeds City failed to clear Harry Blades corner and Thomas was on hand from close range to make it 1-3 - a deserved goal to go with his excellent defensive display.

Harvey was causing lots of problems down the left and when his shot was tipped onto the woodwork by the keeper, Louie was on hand to head home from close range for 1-4.

It was down the left again where Tingley found more joy, as Will broke free and his pinpoint cross was finished by Dan for number 5.

Everyone wanted to get in on the act by now, despite the coaches urging discipline, and Dan turned provider for number 6 when he send Josh through and he managed to get past the keeper and roll the ball home.

Leeds City kept trying to play, and managed to reduce the deficit when a high shot from distance beat Isaac and made it 2-6.

With only a few minutes remaining there was still time for Josh to grab his second when excellent work from Jammie down the right teed him up. This was the final act of an entertaining game, in which Tingley took a while to get going but ultimately proved too strong for their hosts.

Player of the match went to Louie for a strong midfield display, especially in the second half, capped off with a goal.

Final Score
Leeds City Juniors 2
Tingley Athletic 7

* Match Report* U13 Stripes

Farsley Celtic - 0
Tingley Stripes - 7

The Stripey Army were back on the road again this week, this time to play Farsley Celtic.
With a quarter of the team and coach + manager just arriving before kick off, there was little time to prepare, but all talk was about determination, getting stuck in, no backing out, being 1st to the ball, working as a team and not letting our heads go down if something goes wrong.

For the first 10 minutes of the game, the opposition attacked and really pegged the team back but didn't really offer much to worry Dara in goal who was cool as a cucumber all game 😎.
The oppositions control of the game was short-lived as the Tingley girls started to dominate. The domination was not just in possession but also in passing, movement, communication, running, physical challenges, and getting shots away. Everyone on the team was on their game, and no one backed down. This lasted for the whole of the game, which is a real step on in teamwork and determination.
Two goals from Liv and one from Ella saw the stripes take a 0-3 into the half-time break.
The second half was again even to start, the opposition fighting and battling for the ball, but the Stripes class shone through. The defence was solid. What shots the opposition did get away were dealt with solidly by Dara. The midfield were strong, backing up the defence and breaking to serve and support the attack. Strong tackles and no backing down was the name of the game.
One further goal for Ella making it 0-4.
Good passing and movement gave Laila the opportunity to smash the ball into the back of the net from close range to get her a goal. 0-5.
Wonderful footwork and calmness saw Tabitha take the ball past two players in midfield, attacking the defence with small touches. They backed off as she calmly played an inch perfect ball to Niamh, one on one with the keeper, Niamh slotted the ball home. 0-6.
A penalty was given for hand ball by a Farsley defender. Niamh took the penalty, which she hit solidly. The ball hit the underside of the cross bar and hit the support bar at the back of the net and bounced back out of the net. The referee thought this was not a goal (it clearly was). Play continued, Tingley getting possesion back, literally within 30 seconds of the goal not being given, Niamh had the ball in the back of the net, for her second goal. So deserved!
Final Score 0-7

Cup game today for the U11 Tigers against Drighlington.
The Tigers started brightly, moving the ball really well and creating plenty of chances. Maisie opened the scoring after a great pass from Flo, but Drighlington soon levelled.

A brilliant second quarter saw goals from Floss, Jessie and Maisie take us into a 5-1 lead, with great supply from Flo, Ella and Sienna, and Iris commanding in goal.

Drighlington fought back in the third to make it 5-3, and it could have been more if it wasn’t for DJ’s efforts in goal. But the Tigers finished strongly with another flurry of goals.

Harriet and DJ were strong in midfield, with Ella also having a run out up front. It was also great to see Floss looking very comfortable in goal.

Oppo & parents - Jessie: commanding performance and 5 great goals 👏
Coaches - Maisie: bags of energy, great runs and a hat-trick ⚽️

Tingley vs Hall Green – Match Report
Tingley vs Hall Green
Final Score: Tingley 1–7 Hall Green
Starting XI
GK: Arienne
DEF: Erin, Ava, Hollie, Jasmine
MID: Lydia, Bea, Millie, Katie
ATT: Maddie, Anaïse
Subs: Annabel, Zara, Ivy (debut)

Tingley started brightly and took the lead after some excellent work down the right. A fantastic cross from Katie found Anaïse in the box, who made no mistake, finishing neatly into the bottom-left corner to put Tingley 1–0 up.

Katie continued to cause problems from the right, delivering two more excellent crosses into the middle, but unfortunately Tingley couldn't quite get the finishing touch needed to extend the lead.

Hall Green responded with plenty of pressure, using their pacey attackers to create opportunities. Arienne made some excellent saves to keep Tingley in the game, but Hall Green eventually found an equaliser after a good attacking move.

A long ball straight through the middle then put the Hall Green striker one-on-one with Arienne, and they finished to make it 2–1.
Another Hall Green break brought another excellent save from Arienne, keeping the score at 2–1 going into half-time.

Hall Green came out strongly after the break and their number 10 made a good run straight through the middle to make it 3–1.
Tingley continued to battle, with Hollie making a good save and Erin producing an excellent goal-line clearance to keep Hall Green out. Unfortunately, the pressure eventually told and Hall Green made it 4–1.

Another through ball put their striker one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and they finished to make it 5–1.

Tingley continued to work hard and showed some good attacking play. Millie did well in the middle before putting Katie through on the right. Katie's shot went just wide, but it was a really positive move from Tingley.
Ivy, making her debut, then showed plenty of promise with two good breaks. On both occasions she got into dangerous positions, but the Hall Green keeper managed to smother the ball before she could get her shots away. Tingley were starting to come back into the game and showed plenty of fight.

Hall Green then added another after another through ball put their striker through on goal, making it 6–1.

They scored once more before the final whistle to make the final score 7–1.

A tough game for Tingley today against a strong Hall Green side, but there were plenty of positives to take from the match.

The girls worked hard throughout, created chances, defended bravely and never gave up.

Special mention to Ivy on her debut, and to Arienne for some fantastic saves. Katie's delivery was excellent, Anaïse took her chance brilliantly, and there were some great individual efforts from Millie, Hollie and Erin too.

Well played, girls — keep working hard! 💪⚽
