🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ WHAT A WEEK WE HAVE HAD! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

What an incredible week for Walsall Arboretum Running Club! 💙

We had 32 members taking part in 11 different parkruns over the weekend — absolutely amazing to see! 👏👏 Well done to every single one of you for getting out there and doing what you love. 💪

🌟 A MASSIVE special mention to Kirsty, Mike & Jamie Van Rensburg, who took on the absolutely enormous challenge of 100K at Equinox 24!

Yes… 100K! 😱

We genuinely cannot begin to grasp the enormity of what you have achieved. The dedication, determination and resilience required to run that distance is incredible, and we are absolutely in awe of you all! 💙👏

🏅 We also had a fantastic group taking part in the Tissington Trail Half Marathon over the weekend. This event takes place across two days, and we were delighted to have club members taking part on both days!

And Dave deserves another special mention too… he has also completed the Crohn's & Colitis Charity Run 60, completing an incredible 60 miles throughout September! 🏃‍♂️💙

We know this charity is particularly close to Dave's heart, so seeing him take on and achieve this challenge is truly fantastic. Huge congratulations, Dave! 👏

As a club, we are perpetually astounded by the achievements of our members and eternally proud as we watch everyone grow, challenge themselves and achieve things they may never have thought possible. 💙

Whether you ran 100K or 1K, got a PB, completed your first parkrun, tackled a new distance, or simply got yourself out the door — it is all phenomenal to witness. 🙌

HUGE well done to everyone this week! 🎉

🏃‍♀️💙 WALSALL ARBORETUM RUNNING CLUB – WEEKLY ROUND UP! 💙🏃‍♂️

What a weekend for the club! 🙌🔥

We had an incredible 40 members attend 11 different parkrun events last weekend! 🎉👏

Getting up, getting out and getting it done, we absolutely LOVE seeing our members representing the club across the country. 🌳🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

And it wasn’t just parkrun that kept us busy… it was a HUGE weekend of events! 🏅

👏 Vanessa Taylor took on the Worcester 10K

👏 Alison Bennetts Brown smashed the Lichfield 10K

👏 Lorraine Hartill took part in the Princess of Wales' Regiment Tigers Virtual 10K

Absolutely phenomenal, ladies! 💪🔥 We are SO proud of you! 💙

And then on Sunday…

🏃‍♀️ Karen Dovey took on the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon, what an achievement! 👏

🏃‍♀️ Nia Brennan took on the Great North Run Half Marathon, an incredible accomplishment! 🏅🙌

To every single member who got out there this weekend, whether you were chasing a PB, completing your first event, ticking off a goal, or simply getting those miles in, you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. 💙

As a club, there really is no better feeling than watching our members achieve goals they once thought were impossible. 🥹❤️

That’s what Walsall Arboretum Running Club is all about, supporting each other, celebrating each other and proving that with a little determination, those impossible goals can become possible. 💪✨

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Walsall Arboretum Running Club Weekend Round-Up! 🌳

What a fantastic weekend for the club! 🙌

We had an amazing 28 members representing Walsall Arboretum Running Club across 12 different parkrun events! That’s some serious parkrun tourism! 🌍🏃‍♂️

🏆 Huge congratulations to Charlotte Chester Master & Bradley Stokes, who both achieved course PBs at Perry Hall parkrun! 🎉

Absolutely brilliant, guys, amazing running! 👏🔥

Our very own Julian Roderick, who many of you will know as the resident Walsall Arboretum parkrun photographer, reached an incredible milestone this weekend…

💚 250 VOLUNTEER CREDITS! 💚

Julian, we genuinely cannot thank you enough for all the time, effort and enthusiasm you’ve given to parkrun and our running community over the years.

Even if that does include taking photos where our double chins suddenly make an appearance and our eyes appear to be permanently closed! 😂📸

But seriously… parkrun just wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you for your service, Julian — you’re a legend! 👏💚

👟 COUCH TO 5K STARTS MONDAY! 👟

Our next Couch to 5K course starts this coming Monday, 7th September, and it’s not too late to sign up!

💙 What a fantastic result! 💙

Following on from our Walsall Arboretum Running Club 5K & 10K Charity Run on 19th July, we finally got to make our cheque handover last night to Samaritans UK.

We’re absolutely delighted to have raised an amazing £660! 🎉👏

This money will go towards supporting the Walsall branch of the Samaritans, helping them continue the incredible and invaluable work they do supporting people when they need someone to talk to. ❤️

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to the Samaritans team for supporting us on race day as our marshals, timekeepers and general all-round support crew. 🙌

We genuinely couldn’t have done it without you! 💚

And, of course, a massive thank you to everyone who ran, volunteered, donated and supported our event. Your generosity helped make this possible. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💙

Here’s to many more miles and making a difference along the way! 👟💫

🎉 EXCITING NEWS! OUR NEXT COUCH TO 5K COURSE STARTS 7TH SEPTEMBER! 🎉

Have you always wanted to start running but thought “I could never run 5K”? Well, we’re here to tell you… you absolutely can! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💪

Our 12-week Couch to 5K course is designed to take you from complete beginner to running 5 kilometres (or continuously for 30 minutes) without stopping.

Led by our qualified Run Leaders, each session is supportive, friendly and designed to gradually build your confidence, fitness and running ability. ❤️

And honestly, if you’re thinking “there’s no way I could do that” — we understand! But you might be surprised at what you can achieve in just 12 weeks. It really is achievable for anyone! 🙌

📅 Starts: Monday 7th September
🕕 Time: 6:00pm every Monday
📍 Meeting point: Outside the Arboretum Visitor Centre
💷 Cost: Just £12 upfront for the full 12-week course
🏃 Complete beginners welcome!

All you need to bring is yourself, some comfortable clothes and trainers, we’ll take care of the rest!

Weekly Round-Up 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

What a week for Walsall Arboretum Running Club! 🌳💪

Last week, we had an amazing 45 members taking part in 16 different parkruns! 🎉 That’s incredible, well done to everyone who got out there, got moving and got it done. 👏

We also had some fantastic parkrun achievements to celebrate! 🏅

A big congratulations to Rohim Uddin on completing his 25th parkrun! 🥳👏 What a fantastic milestone!

And a special mention to Stuart, who took on Bushy Park parkrun, the home of parkrun itself! 🌳🏃‍♂️ A brilliant one to tick off the list! 👏

It was also the week of the solar eclipse, and our wonderful Social Coordinator, Bally, organised a walk around our beautiful Arboretum so we could all try to witness this exceptionally rare event. 🌞🌑

Now, we’ll let you judge for yourselves from the photos… but we’re not entirely convinced they managed to witness the eclipse at all! 😂🤣

That said, there was plenty of fun, laughter and good company and that’s what it’s all about! ❤️

☀️🏃‍♀️ Walsall Arboretum Running Club – Weekly Round-Up 🏃‍♂️☀️

What a scorcher of a week! 🥵 A huge well done to everyone who ventured out for a run in the heat. We hope you all remembered to stay hydrated 💧 and stick to the shade wherever possible! 🌳

Last weekend, we had an amazing 42 members taking part at 20 different parkrun locations! 🙌 That’s some serious tourism!

A special shout-out goes to Suki Bassi, who celebrated her 100th tourism parkrun at Stratford-upon-Avon parkrun! 🎉👏

Well done, Suki! Your beautiful smile and enthusiasm have been taken to so many different locations! Here’s to the next 100! 🥳🏃‍♀️

Although this week is supposed to be a little cooler, it’s still going to be very warm, so please take care when running:

💧 Keep well hydrated before, during and after your run
🌅 Try to run early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler
🌳 Stick to shaded routes where possible
🐢 Slow your pace and listen to your body, there’s no need to chase a PB in the heat!
🧢 Wear light, breathable clothing and consider a hat and sunscreen
🛑 If you feel dizzy, nauseous, unusually tired or unwell, stop and get somewhere cool

Remember, there’s no shame in slowing down or shortening your run when it’s hot! ❤️

☀️ Run Club Update ☀️

Unfortunately, due to the forecasted temperatures of 29°C later today, we’ve made the decision to cancel this evening’s Walsall Arboretum Running Club session.

We know this will be disappointing, and it’s never a decision we make lightly. However, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our members will always come first, and with the heat expected this evening, we feel it’s the right call.

Take the opportunity to keep cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy a well earned rest! 💧😎 We’ll be back together soon and can’t wait to see you all at our next run.

🏃‍♀️ WARC Weekly Round Up 🏃‍♂️

What a fantastic weekend for our members! 🌟

We had 42 Walsall Arboretum Running Club members taking part in 12 different parkruns across the country! 👏

A special shout out goes to two of our adventurous runners:

🔒 Michelle Young completed Black Combe parkrun, which is uniquely based inside HMP Haverigg, definitely one of the most unusual parkrun locations around!

⛰️ Michelle Nicklin took on the challenge of Woolacombe Dunes parkrun, widely regarded as one of the UK's toughest parkruns. What an incredible achievement!

👏 Amazing running, ladies!

🎉 Rachael Fortes-Mayer achieved a course PB at East Park parkrun with a fantastic 44:56.
