If ever there was inspiration to start or keep exercising it's this 76 year old who had surgery to repair his shoulder last week & was back in the gym a few days later! 🙌

The nicest compliment & the reason I love what I do 🥰

There are so many reasons to exercise beyond what you look like. Keeping fit, strong, co-ordinated & mobile, so that age, illness & injury do not have the ability to take you out of action.

In April 2022 I began training Rick online. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of blood cancer in 2021. When we started training, 30 seconds cardio would have him out of breath & dizzy.

Yesterday, I was the proudest coach, standing on the side-lines of the London marathon cheering Rick on as he achieved his A goal of under 5 hours!🏃🏆

The last 2 years haven't been plain sailing, with treatment, illness & all the side effects (mental & physical) that come along with a cancer diagnosis but HE DID IT!

AMAZING!!🙌🥳

Why “Eat Less, Move More” Is Incredibly Hard (Especially Now) 19/03/2024

Eat less, move more....calories in vs calories out. Sounds so simple. It rarely is.

I love this video from precision nutrition. It captures the importance of looking at the bigger picture.

This morning I scheduled in 20 mins per day "house admin" as a goal for one of my ladies. The ultimate goal is to lose inches but the bigger picture is that she is stressed by how much juggling she has to do & this is leading to low mood which translates to low motivation & a what's the point attitude. The result being comfort eating & beating herself up.

So, as well as her daily text which we put in place to keep her accountable with her food, we added some admin time because this will make the food & movement easier.

Sometimes we need someone to point out the things that we haven't noticed & give us a gentle nudge.

Don't beat yourself up if eat less, move more seems impossible. Look at the bigger picture 🫶

Food prep, not the most fun thing in the world BUT taking the time to plan what you're going to eat & spending a few minutes each evening getting things prepped will be the difference between you mindlessly eating & grabbing whatever is to hand and eating nutritious, colourful food which will keep you sustained & focused throughout your day.

When we started thinking about her nutrition this lady was worried that I was asking her to "EAT TOO MUCH!" 🤣 Love it!

To her surprise, eating more has resulted in her steadily losing 1 - 2Ibs per week 🙌

She still eats food that she enjoys 🥳She still eats out 🥳 She is never hungry🥳

We are creating healthy, sustainable habits rather than quick fix, short term solutions which would leave her hungry, miserable & gaining more weight when she inevitably fell off the wagon😫

Trust the process, stick to the plan, see results 👏

In my defence it was a tough workout!!

It's sooooo easy to find an excuse to not exercise, but you will NEVER regret the workout you DID do....even if you fall asleep on the exercise mat afterwards!!! 🤣

Just a reminder that what you eat over the weekend counts as well!!

There is no point sticking to the plan all week only to get to the weekend & undo all your hard work. So,
...
🥚Have the cooked breakfast but, be mindful of how you are cooking it (poached or grilled instead of fried)

🍕 Have a couple slices of pizza NOT a pizza, garlic bread, chicken dippers, desert

🍸Have a glass of wine NOT a bottle

🍬Have some chocolate but NOT a family size bar


No need to miss out on the treats just because you are aiming for a healthier lifestyle🫶

Oh my gosh, it's been a year since I posted 🙈 Good riddance 2023, you were HORRID. Hello 2024 🫶

I knew it was going to have been a long time but I kept putting off looking

I think we've all been there,...you avoid looking at something because you know it's going to be bad. The longer you leave it the harder it gets. A bit like when we're trying to get ourselves fit & healthy. We fall off the wagon & avoid the scales/tape measure/mirror/checking in with the PT!

When I see my last post, it makes me smile because I am still saying exactly the same thing!

Nail the basics!

☑️A small calorie deficit (around 200 calories)

☑️Include protein at every meal

☑️2+ litres of water daily

☑️2 – 4 workouts every week

☑️Walk daily

☑️Prioritise your sleep
