Marchwiel & Wrexham Cricket Club

The 2XI are also on their travels this week with the short trip to play Cricket Club on Sunday.

The 1XI continue their pursuit of the top 2 when they travel across town to play Llay Welfare Cricket Club on Saturday.

We had a different type of milestone moment last Thursday as our Rebels Women's team played their first game against Pontblyddyn.

It was a great evening at the Hall, lots of support for both sides and a really positive start on the journey. Lots of progress has been made in a very short space of time this summer.

All involved deserve huge credit. Lots more to come!

Three milestones to celebrate this week.

First up was Nick Husbands 3rd fifty of the summer with 57 not out in the 2XI's win against Ruthin.

In the same game, Seb Oddie, recorded a remarkable opening spell of 4 overs, 4 maidens, 2 wickets for 0 runs. You cant ask much more than that.

The final moment of the week came in the form of David Munnerley's first fifty for the club in the Sunday teams win against Chirk Stollers at the Hall on Sunday.

A battle of two of the top 3 in Division 2 ended in a tie as the 1XI and league leaders Carmel couldn’t be split in a really competitive game at the Hall.

The 2XI enjoyed a dominant win at Ruthin chasing down 130 to win by 8 wickets. Special mention to Seb Oddie who bowled 4 overs for zero runs and 2 wickets in a very miserly opening spell.

The 2XI travel to Ruthin Cricket Club in a bid to get back on track this weekend.

Another big game awaits the 1XI this weekend as we welcome league leaders Carmel & District Cricket Club to the Hall in what should be a really good contest.

The 1XI will be looking to close the gap to the top 2 with a positive result.

The action starts at midday, we will have refreshments ready for you to come a relax with us for the afternoon.

A week of batting milestones this week. We start with two fifties for the 1XI at Denbigh on Saturday.

Gaz Evans first fifty of the season came in fine fashion with a perfect openers innings of 69. Gaz was joined in the runs by Chris Woodcock's forth fifty of the year. His 68n.o. saw the 1XI home to victory.

In the midweek game, there were two more fifties as skipper Sam Shoemark (51 in 28 balls) and Mohammed Ghufran (53 in 17 balls) smashed the ball to all parts in our win against Burton.

Our Marchwiel & Wrexham Rebels Woman's team will play their first competitive match on Thursday evening at the Hall against Pontblyddyn.

Its a massive step for the club and is a testament to all their hard work in training this summer.

A contrast in fortunes at the weekend for our two sides.

A brilliant win at Denbigh for the 1XI kept the pressure up on the top 2 in Division 2.
