“I quit.”⁣

That’s what I said to myself last week,⁣

This is, without question, the hardest thing I’ve ever done. ⁣

Surprisingly, it has very little to do with fitness.⁣

The biggest challenge has been the on going battle in my own head around my swim,⁣

With a very real fear of water it has become, at times a stress i could do without I’ll be honest, ⁣

Especially when you’re trying to build a business, ⁣

Be the best dad you can be to two amazing kids, ⁣

And running on barely any sleep,⁣

Then throw in the fact you’re trying to learn a completely new skill,⁣

It’s easy to convince yourself the timing just isn’t right.⁣

And last week I did just that, ⁣

I threw my toys out the pram.⁣

I’m not proud of it, but I’m being honest.⁣

People often assume this is easier for me because fitness is my job apparently.⁣

The truth?⁣

That couldn’t be further from reality.⁣

After some honest conversations with my wife I realised something.⁣

I don’t actually want to quit.⁣

I just needed some space,⁣

So here’s the plan.⁣

For the next 8 weeks, I’m putting my head down.⁣

No excuses.⁣

No negativity.⁣

No looking for a way out.⁣

I’m just going to show up and see what’s possible.⁣

Let’s be honest, I’ll achieve nothing by giving in,⁣

Equally if I keep focusing on the destination I’ll ruin the thing I love most….⁣

The actual training!⁣

So here’s to a new mindset this week, I’ll let you know how I get on💪🏻⁣

Let’s go. 💪

Wow,

What an experience this was with Ash,

This guy left everything out there today and I’m proud to have had a chance to witness the shift he put in.

The effort required to run something like this puts everyone that makes the start line a winner,

But seeing it through, having those tough conversations and coming out on top puts you in the top 1%,

Well in pal,

And I can confirm this is one of the toughest I’ve ever done, but by far the most scenic,

An incredible day💪🏻

Today’s Rob-izm,

It’s a sad truth and think it’s something I’m only aware of because I’m the guy the other end of the message.

Otherwise, any other role I think I’d very easily find myself falling in the same trap.

I turn 40 next year.⁣

And if you’re around my age, you’re probably in one of two camps…⁣

You either feel 40…⁣

Or you’re pretending you’re nowhere near it.⁣

I’m firmly in the second camp.⁣

Call me in denial if you like, ⁣

But Age isn’t what slows most people down. ⁣

Their lifestyle does.⁣

I’ve coached people 15–20 years younger than me who are mentally, physically and personally in a terrible place.⁣

I’ve also coach people 20 years older than me who are achieving things I genuinely admire.⁣

The difference isn’t the number.⁣

It’s the decisions they make every day.⁣

That’s not judgment.⁣

That’s a responsibility you have to take!⁣

At some point, we all have to stop blaming our age, ⁣

Our schedule ⁣

Or our circumstances and ask ourselves…⁣

“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘐 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺?”⁣

I know exactly who I want to be.⁣

And most of you do to!⁣

This is why I train.⁣

It’s why I race.⁣

And why I’ll keep showing up.⁣

Today you have the opportunity to do that for yourself,⁣

You can make that decision,⁣

You really can,⁣

Because the years are coming thick and fast⁣

And you get to decide how you feel when you meet them.⁣

Here’s to many more years of denial!⁣

Let’s go. 👊⁣

3 people can do the same exercise and have a completely different outcome,⁣

Let’s take squats, for example,⁣

Person 1 will feel it in their knees,⁣

Person 2 will feel it in the back,⁣

Person 3 will squat pain-free and turn into an absolute powerhouse.⁣

The only difference between those 3 people is how they’ve been coached,⁣

Or if they’ve even been coached at all.

This is a must for me,

Amongst the challenges life throws at me I always make sure I have something locked in.

It’s my healthy compass,

It forces me to show up when I could very easily not,

It stops me slipping into the dad ditch,

And it reminds me of who I actually am as opposed to the person life can very easily force you to become!
