Southland Carbon yr7&8 travelled to Athol to take on Mossburn yesterday.

Was a great experience to play on a field that rarely gets played on anymore so thanks heaps to the organisers for inviting us to play there.

Luckily that white stuff stayed up on the hills ❄️🥶

They played absolutely awesome & had 3 wins & 1 draw 🙌 Unfortunately it came down to points differentiation & they missed the semi final by only 2 tries.

Well done kids for giving it your all

The yr4 team had an awesome morning today at the 7s tournament.

Played their best rugby of the year including an epic come-from-behind-win with a try to win it in the last minute 🔥🔥

They were sat top of the pool halfway through the morning but unfortunately didn’t quite have luck or the results go our way in the last couple of games.

Every player played so well though!

Our yr3 - 1st yr tackle team - had a cracker day at Millers flat today. Despite been thrown some new, fast rules & being up against some strong teams, they gave it their best, had fun & only grew stronger as the day went by 🙌

We've had a few people be in touch about the draw for this weekend - we won't have official draw/games times until a couple days prior unfortunately. Your coaches will be in touch with that info as soon as we have it.

In the meantime here are some things to consider & learn if this is your first year attending 😊

🔴 Please allow yourself plenty of time to get there as there is a lot of traffic & you need to find a park.
🟡 Games kick off on the buzzer regardless of whether teams are ready or not so please get there early.
⚫️ Each team will have a base for the day where all gear can be kept together & where children can wait in between games.
🔴 There are lots of food & drink trucks at the site but please come prepared with snacks & water so children have something to grab if quick turn around between games.
🟡 Bring lots of warm clothes as could be a frosty start. Warm kids are happy kids, & happy kids give it their all.
⚫️ Bring a chair - lots of waiting time so good to have somewhere to sit up off the ground.

This is an awesome event & we are all excited to see the kids get out on the field again & go up against some kids outside the Eastern Southland region 🙌

Our Southland Carbon yr 7&8 yeam are still going & had a tough win over Star yesterday...45-12 🙌

This team has come along well & look forward to closing out the season with 3 more games left.
