And that brings us to the close of the 2026 D Grade Nationals where our awesome ladies team went to compete. Seeded 8th out of 8, it was expected that they were to lose each tie. However the powers that be did not reckon on our awesomeness and we placed 6th, two spots above our seeding. Take a bow ladies, you have all played some terrific squash this week and we at The Park are absolutely proud of you. Well done, and good job.
We were so close to getting 5th place too - don't let the 1-4 result fool you. Theresa and Kim had 5 setters that could have gone our way, and combined with young Hannah's win in 4... nevertheless it didn't go our way and so congratulations to Squash City Invercargill for taking 5th place.
I'm guessing now it's time for the festivities, fun and costumes. And then the long trek home for our tired gladiators.
