🌟 Be Part of Something Special
This is YOUR chance to be part of an incredible celebration where inline hockey meets Māori culture! Matariki 2026 brings together the best of both worlds – elite competition, cultural connection, and unforgettable experiences that will shape your hockey journey.

What Makes Matariki Unique?
Matariki celebrates the rising of the Matariki star cluster, marking the Māori New Year. It's a time of remembrance, celebration, and looking forward to new beginnings. The values that underpin this special tournament include:
• Kotahitanga – Unity and coming together as one team
• Manaakitanga – Caring for and supporting each other
• Aroha – Love and respect for teammates and opponents
• Whakamaharatanga – Remembering and honouring those who came before us
• Tohatoha – Sharing knowledge, skills, and experiences
These aren't just words – they're the foundation of how we play, compete, and grow together.

🏒 What's New for 2026?
Junior Grades Join the Celebration!
For the first time ever, 10U, 12U, and 14U players are invited to participate in Matariki alongside our senior grades! This groundbreaking expansion means younger players can experience:
• Elite Competition – Play as part of our Junior Matariki teams
• Mentorship from Rangitira Players – Learn from the best players who embody Matariki values
• Exclusive Training Camp – Be coached by Shane Clark (IHNZ Māori Coach & IHNZ IIHF Coach) alongside experienced senior players
• Cultural Connection – Experience a traditional Hāngi lunch and immerse yourself in te ao Māori
• Open Entry – ALL 10U, 12U, and 14U players are welcome!

🚀 Why Should You Apply?
Skill Development
Learn from elite coaches including Shane Clark, who has coached at both national Māori and international IIHF levels. This is coaching expertise you won't find anywhere else!
Cultural Enrichment
Connect with te ao Māori through sport, understanding values that will serve you both on and off the rink. Sports and games have always been integral to Māori culture, especially during Matariki celebrations.
Mentorship Opportunities
Junior players will be paired with rangitira (senior) players who exemplify the best of Matariki values – leadership, skill, and character.
Memories That Last a Lifetime
Share a Hāngi, compete alongside friends from across New Zealand, and be part of a tradition that celebrates unity and excellence.
Open to Everyone
Junior grades are open entry – if you're passionate about inline hockey and ready to embrace the Matariki spirit, you're welcome here!
