North Island Provincial Regatta 2026

A huge congratulations to all the Wellington rowers who raced at the North Island Provincial Regatta.

🥉 Wellington finished 3rd overall — a fantastic result and a reflection of the depth and strength of rowing across our province.

Behind every result are countless hours of training, early mornings, coaching sessions, boat loading, travel and support from whānau, clubs and volunteers. Thank you to everyone who contributed to getting our crews to the start line and supporting them throughout the weekend.

Well done, team!

On this day in 1972, New Zealand's rowing eight produced one of the great moments in Kiwi Olympic history, winning gold in Munich.

They led from early in the race and held off the United States to win by nearly three seconds.

Do you remember this famous Kiwi sporting moment?
