Slaughter the Ox”
When God calls us to something, he asks us to drop everything that hinders us from Him, and follow faithfully, without turning back. Following Elijah to be the next prophet of Israel cost Elisha everything. His sacrifice of the oxen, and the burning of his yoke and plow made it so he could not go back to his old life. Unwavering sacrifice. Ultimate resolve.
Receiving a “Slaughter the Ox” shirt signifies one’s commitment to pursuing excellence in the service of others, no matter the cost. The honor has nothing to do with talent or ability. It is a representation of unrelenting effort, a consistent desire to humbly improve, and unwavering passion to help everyone they encounter to achieve their God-given potential. It is an honor that is not to be taken lightly, as those who receive it are looked at to uphold a standard of excellence in effort, humility, and character.
In her time at Resolute, Caylee is absolute sunshine on a daily basis. She is up to try anything, even if it is new and challenging. She does a great job of engaging her peers from different schools and peers that play different sports. Her humble heart, positive attitude and, consistent character make everyone around her better.
A Bible verse that comes to mind when we think of Caylee is Psalm 84:11, "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly."
“So he [Elijah] departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him. And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.”
