Your back pain might not be telling the whole story. 👣➡️🦵➡️🦴

Yesterday, I had a patient come in with back pain. We tried stretching, postural correction, and different hands-on techniques—but her symptoms weren’t changing as much as we hoped.

Then we worked on something that seemed completely unrelated: her big toe and bunion.

We used gentle soft-tissue work, toe mobility, stretching, and taping.

And surprisingly, her back pain decreased.

Now, this does NOT mean that a bunion causes back pain.

But it is a great reminder that your body is connected.

When your foot or big toe isn’t moving well, your body may compensate as you walk, balance, and push off. Those changes can influence movement higher up the chain—including the ankle, knee, hip, pelvis, and spine.

That’s why a good physical therapy evaluation looks beyond the location of your pain.

Don’t just ask, “Where does it hurt?”
Ask, “Why might my body be moving this way?”

👣 Your feet matter.
🦵 Your hips matter.
🧍‍♀️ Your posture matters.
🔗 Your entire movement system matters.
