Handstands aren't about being strong enough. They're about trusting the floor β and that's exactly what our new weekly Handstands class is built to teach.
Meet Jake, the instructor leading it. He teaches with real anatomy and nervous system awareness built into every class β which makes him exactly the right person to make handstands feel accessible instead of intimidating.
All experience levels are welcome. Every session breaks down the actual mechanics β hand placement, where to look, how to engage before you ever kick up β so it's less "can I do this" and more "here's how."
Fridays, 10:30AM.

A lot is new at bodyRIOT this September.
Alex found yoga after years as a live sound engineer, trained in Bali with his wife Erin β who's also teaching this fall. Jake's a former elite athlete turned Biomedical Engineer, now leading our brand-new Handstands class. Jennifer opens every class with a moment of stillness. And Cora, who you already know, is bringing something new: unheated Ashtanga 75 β the same structured sequence every time, built for real strength over weeks, not just a single sweaty hour...and Megan, a certified Inferno Hot Pilates instructor and NASM-certified personal trainer who believes getting stronger should never mean restriction β just ask her about her other passion, food.
Plus, meet JJ: 10+ years as a licensed massage therapist, now offering deep tissue and something new for us β manual lymphatic drainage. Thursdays and Saturdays.
A lot is on the schedule for the month. Come see for yourself.

Flow vs. Power Flow β what's actually different? Both are flow-based. Here's where they split.
Same foundation: continuous, breath-linked movement, one pose leading into the next. If you've done one, the rhythm will feel familiar in the other.
Flow keeps a steady, accessible pace β shorter holds, always moving, a strong entry point whether you're new to the room or just want something that flows without grinding. Power Flow is the same continuous movement with more demand β longer holds, more depth, real strength work built into the sequence.
There's no wrong answer. Take Flow when you want movement without grinding. Take Power Flow when you want the burn built in. Most people end up doing both, depending on the day.

What actually happens in a Recovery class? This isn't the "skip day" class.
Non-heated, 70β75Β°F. You start moving before you start stretching β slow, flowing sequences that reset your nervous system so you're actually ready for what's next. Then long holds, prop-supported, held for minutes at a time β long enough for your body to stop guarding and actually let go.
Foam rollers and massage balls, used the right way: slow and targeted, finding the actual spot holding tension instead of rolling around hoping something releases.
Just finished a hard week? This is where your body catches up. Carrying tension you keep meaning to deal with? Start here. New to Studio 1? This is the slower way in β same depth, different pace.
Catch it Sundays at 4PM β the best way to decompress from the week and walk into the next one feeling renewed.

In studio only. Shop early for the best selection.
Two balls, five minutes. That's it.
Rock forward and back over the traps β small shifts until you find the spot that's actually holding tension. Go deeper on the rough days, ease up when you don't need it.
Slow wins here. Don't force the release β let the compression do the talking.
New to yoga? Big into strength? Recovery is the perfect way into Studio 1 β an easy foray into what the yoga practice actually has to offer, no pressure to keep up with a flow yet.
