Kathleen has been training at Stärk for more than 2 years, and the impact shows up far beyond the gym.
As she gets ready to celebrate her 65th birthday, she talks about feeling stronger, carrying less stress and having more confidence in what her body can do.
For Kathleen, this is not about chasing a short-term result. It is about having the strength and energy to keep enjoying her life, travelling, spending time with the people she loves and continuing to show up for herself.
That is what long-term progress can look like.
Happy almost-65th, ! We love having your energy at Stärk.
Stärk Fitness
Reconnecting our community through strength culture & education. Stärk Fitness is more that a strength training facility.
It's a community made up of passionate members driven to better themselves, everyday.
Arvind came to Stärk genuinely afraid to get back into the gym.
After a difficult previous training experience, even starting again felt intimidating.
Four months later, with Coach Simon’s guidance, he has gone from struggling with the empty bar to pushing himself further, building confidence and looking forward to training.
What changed was having a coach who understood where he was starting, knew when to challenge him and stayed with him through the process.
Arvind says he hasn’t skipped a single session since he started.
From scared to begin to excited to come back. That’s a big shift.
Thanks for trusting and the Stärk team, Arvind.
Jordan has lost exactly 40 pounds as of today.
In just over 5 months at Stärk, his body fat has dropped from 33% to 21.5% while working a desk job with long hours.
With Coach Angela’s guidance, plus the support and accountability of the Stärk team, Jordan found a plan he could stick to and kept showing up.
40 pounds down, stronger, more consistent and still building.
Thanks for trusting the process, Jordan.
Kirsten came to Stärk looking for a fresh start. 6 months later, it has become part of her routine.
After going through major life changes, including a divorce, selling a home and moving into a new neighbourhood, she wanted something that would help her reset and get back to feeling like herself.
She originally planned to try Stärk for 6 weeks.
Now she trains 3 days a week, sometimes more, and says the variety of ages, stages and fitness levels helped her feel comfortable from the beginning.
Sometimes the hardest part is simply walking through the door.
Kirsten did, and 6 weeks turned into 6 months.
Thanks for trusting the process, Kirsten.
Anita says she never thought she’d be the person who gets excited to go to the gym. Now, she hates missing a class.
After almost a year training with Coach Liam, she credits his ability to customize sessions, pay close attention to form and know when to push.
That combination has helped her keep progressing while actually enjoying the process.
And yes, the Coaches Cup she mentions is our friendly competition where members get to show some love for the coaches who have made an impact.
Anita’s vote is clearly with Team Liam
Thanks for the support, Anita. We love having you as part of the Stärk community.
John came to Stärk with one goal: get back under 200 pounds. Then he planned to leave.
After knee surgery and nearly a year away from regular activity, he felt far from the shape he was used to being in and decided to give Stärk a chance.
Today, he is down to about 186 pounds and, instead of leaving once he hit his original goal, he has chosen to keep going.
A big reason is Coach Simon’s approach: prioritizing safety, paying attention, making adjustments when needed and still finding ways to challenge John to progress.
Sometimes the first goal gets you through the door. What happens next gives you a reason to stay.
Thanks for trusting and the Stärk team, John.
For Yousuf, the biggest change has been learning how to keep moving forward even when every week is not perfect.
Before working with Coach Liam, he describes a lot of self-doubt, excuses and missed days.
What changed was having a coach who could meet him where he was.
Some days that means encouragement. Other days it means being pushed harder.
Either way, Liam keeps helping him show up, work toward personal bests and stay connected to the goals he set for himself.
Over time, that consistency has built more than strength.
Yousuf says he feels more confident, walks stronger, talks stronger and feels more like himself.
That is progress worth recognizing.
Thanks for trusting and the Stärk team, Yousuf.
For Mannie, the biggest change wasn’t just losing 30 pounds. It was realizing the process could actually feel doable.
When his weight kept climbing and even his wedding ring stopped fitting, he knew something needed to change.
During his 6-week challenge at Stärk, Mannie lost 30 pounds, changed the way he was eating and found an approach that didn’t feel extreme or overwhelming.
What keeps him coming back is the combination of structured training, nutrition guidance and a community that makes showing up easier.
He’s also getting stronger along the way, recently putting that progress to the test with his deadlift at Record Breakers.
As Mannie puts it, anyone can try to improve on their own. Good coaching helps make the path simpler.
Thanks for trusting the process, Mannie.
Scott recently joined Stärk, and someone told him to ask for Coach Liam. Now he understands why.
From knowing when to push, to adjusting around injuries and keeping a close eye on form, Scott is already feeling the difference that attentive coaching can make.
And yes, the “cup” he mentions is our friendly Coaches Cup competition, where members get to show some love for the coaches who have made an impact.
Scott’s vote is clearly with Team Liam.
Thanks for the support, Scott. We’re glad you’re here.
Shannon’s progress did not stop when life interrupted the plan.
She joined Stärk through the 6-week challenge and lost 4 to 5 inches from her waist, a result she did not expect.
Then an accident kept her away for about a month.
What stood out was what happened next.
Coach Angela stayed in touch, checked in to make sure she was okay, and kept the door open for Shannon to return when she was ready.
That is what support should look like. Progress matters, but so does knowing someone notices when you are missing.
And now Shannon is back.
