What can happen if you don't train mobility within the limits of your flexibility and stretch further than you can control with your muscles🤔

Pushing past your active mobility (what you control) into passive flexibility (what you can reach with help) is like slingshotting a rubber band—it sets you up for disaster. Here's what happens:

📍Immediate injury risk: You tear muscle fibers or ligaments (strains/sprains). Unlike muscles, ligaments don't stretch back—once loose, joints like shoulders or knees become permanently unstable.
📍The "false security" trap: Your brain senses danger and tightens the muscle to protect you, but pushing through that reflex overrides it. You feel "looser" temporarily, but your nervous system will fight back harder next time, decreasing your long-term range of motion.
📍Micro-trauma & scar tissue: Repeated overstretching causes tiny tears that heal as stiff, inelastic scar tissue. This makes you less flexible over time and creates chronic tightness that never goes away.
📍Joint damage: Your ligaments and cartilage take the load your muscles can't handle. This accelerates wear-and-tear, leading to early arthritis or labral tears in hips/shoulders.
📍 Compensation patterns: Your body will recruit the wrong muscles (e.g., low back instead of hips) to "protect" the weak joint, leading to chronic pain in your knees, lower back, or neck.

The golden rule: Only stretch as far as you can actively reverse out of without using momentum or your hands. If you can't stop mid-stretch and pull back, you're in the danger zone.

👉So if you're ready to build sustainable, joint-friendly mobility—not just "how far" but how well you move—come join our yoga classes. We'll teach you how to work within your active range, strengthen control at every angle, and get the benefits of every pose without the risk. See you on the mat! 🧘‍♀️

Yoga helps mobility not through stretching, but through controlled movement in dynamics. Here are 4 key mechanisms:

1️⃣Active lengthening under load
In yoga, you don't just "hang" in a stretch — you contract your muscles while elongating (for example, in Downward Dog, you push the floor away with your hands and pull your hips up and back). This teaches the nervous system not to block the movement — mobility increases without overstretching ligaments.

2️⃣ Moving through the joint's full range
Yoga makes the joint work through its entire trajectory: from full flexion to full extension with body weight (lunges, chair pose, warrior poses). This lubricates the joints with synovial fluid and strengthens the muscles at every point.

3️⃣. Integration of breath and movement
Breathing (ujjayi or just deep breathing) is linked to the autonomic nervous system. On inhale, you expand and create space; on exhale, you deepen the pose. This helps you relax the "guard" muscles around the joint, which often limit range of motion due to stress.

4️⃣Balance between strength and flexibility
In every asana, there are active agonist muscles (working) and antagonists (stretching). For example, in Bow Pose, you strongly engage your back and glutes while simultaneously stretching your chest and hips. This creates mobility without instability — the joint is protected by muscles, not just ligaments.

Comparison with stretching:

· Stretching: relax the muscle → pull it → get passive length.
· Yoga: engage the muscle → elongate → get controlled range of motion that you can actually use in real life (bending, squatting, twisting).

👉Flexibility alone isn't enough. Controlled movement + stretching = the real game changer. 📍That's what I teach. It's tougher, it's smarter, and it asks more from your brain and muscles. But stick with it — the results speak for themselves.

Yoga For Beginners - 4-week course. Start on Tuesday, 30.06.2026, at 19.00

Deep Stretch Class - Alignments in poses.
👉When we practice yoga, we often wonder🤔 if the poses we're doing are correct and perhaps wonder why they look different on us than on others. In this course, I explain what is important to aligning and perfecting our yoga poses, as well as how functionality and aesthetics influence how we perform poses, and how our own uniqueness has to do with it.
❓️What is yoga pose alignment? It uses your whole body in an integrated way to move it into a specific shape, aligning it correctly in order to hold a pose and 👉gain the most benefit from it
✨️A correctly aligned pose will allow you to use the 👉right amount of muscular strength, mobility, and flexibility in your practice. It will help you both in yoga and also in your life😮, the way you walk, hold yourself, and your self-confidence and promote general ease and comfort.

Join me  on the mat to find out more about alignments and to feel poses in different ways🧘‍♀️🙏🙂
