Match Day Report: Castle Ladies vs Willowbank Ladies

It was an end-to-end game on a warm day, with Castle Ladies taking control for large periods of the match.

A few mistakes led to us conceding, and despite creating plenty of chances, a frustrating spell saw several efforts go on and off target when we should have been comfortably ahead. However, we stayed focused and deservedly secured the win.

Molly and our captain stepped up when it mattered most, with a fantastic penalty save to keep us in front and preserve our advantage.

Things are starting to come together on the pitch, and there are massive positives to take away from what was an all-round fantastic team performance.

What a game tonight 💙⚽️

After finding ourselves 3-1 down, the girls showed unbelievable determination, grit and character to turn the game around and take a 4-3 lead.

It was a true team performance full of fight, energy and a real desire to win the game. We created the majority of the chances throughout but just couldn’t quite find a way past the keeper on a few big opportunities.

Unfortunately, a small lapse in concentration in injury time and quick thinking from the opposition meant the game finished 4-4.

Despite the late equaliser, there are so many positives to take from today’s performance. The attitude, resilience and togetherness shown by the squad was outstanding from start to finish 👏💪

Today’s game had everything from sun, hail and rain, but both teams battled through to produce a great competitive match 👏

After working hard on improving our game management over the last few weeks, it was brilliant to see it all come together today with a strong all-round team performance. We held our shape well, worked together as a unit, won possession quickly and kept the pressure on throughout the game.

A deserved 3-0 lead at half-time set the tone, but the message for the second half was clear — no complacency. Despite creating plenty more chances, Crewe’s keeper and defence worked hard to keep us out.

With 20 minutes left, we forced an error high up the pitch and Hannah finished superbly with a great lob to make it 4-0 🔥

Massive credit to every player today for the effort, energy and teamwork shown right until the final whistle 💪
