The Bucs took on the Brawlers at Ward Park on Sunday. From the off the Bucs had it though with having to play short-handed. After a tight first 2 innings the Brawlers went ahead by 1 run. A big inning by the Brawlers in the 3rd was too much in the end for the Bucs to catch up but they put in a valiant effort. Final Score Brawlers 24 - Buccaneers 16

Male MVP - Simon
Female MVP - Caz

Our second Grand Aggregate of the season is officially in the books, and somehow we managed to get through the entire day with brilliant sunshine, no rain and plenty of smiles! πŸ™Œ

Although, after all the player borrowing between teams, we’re fairly sure almost everyone played in nearly every match… so there may have been a few sore legs! πŸ˜‚

πŸ₯ˆ Regulators β€” 2 points

🏏 Congratulations also to Martin Taylor, who won a shiny new Miken Chaos bat in the club raffle! We’re expecting plenty of home runs from it now, Martin… no pressure! πŸ˜…

A huge thank you to Trevor Cast for generously giving up his time to umpire the event, and to Ards and North Down Borough Council for supporting the day through their Sports Grant funding.

πŸ₯Ž SLUGGERS PUSH NEPTUNES ALL THE WAY IN EXTRA-INNINGS THRILLER πŸ₯Ž

Scrabo Sluggers travelled to Newtownabbey Neptunes’ new home ground on Thursday for the final league game before the divisional split.

The Sluggers started strongly, scoring two runs in the opening inning while holding the Neptunes to just one.

πŸ‘ Another rookie debut!
Chris Orr made his Sluggers league debut early in the third inning, with captain Pete Maxwell stepping out to give the club’s newest recruit his well-earned opportunity.
Chris becomes the fifth Sluggers rookie to make their league debut this season!
Pitcher Sarah returned to the lineup following her injury on Sunday and produced a solid performance, including several strikeouts and a fly catch of her own.
The Sluggers’ infield was kept busy, with Alan and Niomi producing some brilliant solo outs, while Marcus and Dawn linked up well to secure several outs at first.
In the outfield, Joanne and Chrissy made multiple stops, while Oliver and Adam launched absolute cannons back towards the infield to slow runners and prevent further runs.
The Sluggers led 12–7 heading into the seventh inning, but smart batting and aggressive base running saw the Neptunes fight back to level the game at 12–12.
That sent the Sluggers into extra innings for the first time since the team was formed.
The Neptunes showed why they are one of the league’s top sides, holding their nerve and scoring the run needed to secure a dramatic 13–12 victory after eight innings.
Captain Pete Maxwell said:
β€œIt goes down as a loss, but that’s the best game we have played all season. To see how the team has developed and to test the Neptunes the way we did was fantastic. We wish Barry, Alex and the rest of the team the best of luck for the rest of their season.”
After the game, Pete and Neptunes co-captain Barry were seen laughing together and promising not to put each other through that much stress again next season! πŸ˜‚
⭐ Sluggers MVPs
πŸ† Male MVP β€” Alan
πŸ† Female MVP β€” Niomi
A heartbreaking result, but a fantastic performance and plenty for the Sluggers to be proud of! πŸ’ͺπŸ₯Ž

Sluggers Show Serious Fight at Ward Park πŸ’ͺπŸ₯Ž

Scrabo Sluggers welcomed Lisburn Eagles to Ward Park as the Division B fixtures move closer to the league split.

The Eagles came out flying, scoring 15 runs across the opening two innings and leaving the Sluggers with a big hill to climb. Things got even tougher early on, with Sarah having to leave the game after taking a ball to the head. Thankfully, she’s doing well and we’re glad to say she’ll be back in the line-up soon. πŸ’™

Pete Maxwell also made his return from an ankle injury, only to aggravate the same ankle during the game. With no male subs left, Pete battled on with an ice pack strapped to his ankle, what proper Sluggers spirit!

Despite the setbacks, the Sluggers didn’t let their heads drop. They kept chipping away at the Eagles’ lead and produced some brilliant defensive moments across the field.

One of the highlights came from Adam Clarke in left centre, who fired the ball in to Marcus at shortstop. Marcus then launched an absolute cannon to Pete at home plate, making the tag and stopping a home run, a play that had the NDSC sideline cheering! πŸ‘

The final score finished 25–14 to Lisburn Eagles, but the Sluggers can be proud of the fight, teamwork and improvement they showed throughout the game.

MVPs went to Marcus and Chrissy, well deserved! 🌟

Onwards and upwards, Sluggers! πŸ₯ŽπŸ’™
