Ards & North Down's premier intramural Softball tournament concluded on Sunday with stage 3 of the North Down Softball Club Grand Aggregate hosted at the Ward Park Softball diamond.
With all 3 teams tied on 4 points each, it was an all to play for final.

Guest of honour Mayor Cllr Craig Blaney opened the event with a members meet & greet, before taking to the diamond & proving his mettle with some solid batting and a strikeout ceremonial first pitch!

Stage 1 round robin results:

1. Regulators 16 - Mutineers 7
2. Regulators 9 - Dynamos 9
3. Dynamos 14 - Mutineers 1

Regulators & Dynamos advanced to the playoffs in an action packed final with major league worthy plays, including a recovery catch by Charlene McCartney off Tara Cornwell's glove, & newcomer Zack "the ringer" Graham hit a Home Run - Grand Slam clearing the bases, securing 4 runs for the Regs!

The Regulators took the win: 15 to the Dynamos 6.

Grand Agg final standings:
1st - Regulators - 7 points
2nd - Dynamos - 6 points
3rd - Mutineers - 5 points

Stage 3 Tournament MVPs: Simon McLean & Charlene McCartney.
*Stage MVPs qualify for the overall Tournament MVP titles, as voted for by the membership, & announced at the end of season awards night.

The Home Run Derby mad minute was won by Darwin Sanchez (m) & Ali Steenwyk (f) with 7 points each!
Simon McLean took the Pitch Perfect competition with 6 strikes on target in 60 seconds!

Over £700 has been raised across the year in aid of the The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

Special thanks to Pete Maxwell for officiating throughout the day, to Niamh, Naomi, & Davina for scoring, to the players for supporting this endeavour, & to Ards and North Down Borough Council, Leisure - Ards and North Down , the Parks department, & Serco for their support throughout the year.

Off season winter training continues Sundays 2-4pm at Ward park, new players welcome.
NDSC are currently recruiting female players for our league teams.

North Down Softball Club wrapped up the Softball Ulster End of Season Blitz with a strong finish, battling through 3 tight games before closing the day out in style with a confident, composed win. The squad showed real depth across the board, with standout performances driving momentum when it mattered most.

Male MVPs Matty and Darwin were relentless at the plate, piling on runs with solid, dependable batting throughout the day whilst keeping runners at bay on the defensive side. Female MVP Katie delivered one of the standout moments of the day with a brilliant outfield catch, backed up by strong batting in a brilliant end to her rookie season with NDSC.

Next Sunday, September 20th, NDSC returns to Ward Park for the Grand Aggregate End of Season Tournament, where the three intraclub teams will battle it out for the inaugural trophy.

With all three NDSC teams currently tied for points, every win matters - every inning, every run, and every play could be the difference between lifting the first-ever title or watching another team claim it!

North Down Softball Club would like to thank the Northern Community Leisure Trust, Bangor Aurora, & Ards and North Down Borough Council Leisure - Ards and North Down for the opportunity to participate in the North Down Wellbeing Festival.

Club volunteers hosted a batting & fielding clinic, promoting the club & sport of Softball to attendees.

Highlights included giving Ards & North Down Mayor - Cllr Craig Blaney, an intro to Softball crash course, as well as an official invitation to attend the NDSC stage 3 Grand Aggregate End of season tournament on Sunday 20th September at Ward park.

Thanks again to Danny, Ali and Carrie for supporting this event.

This Saturday 8th August NDSC will be supporting the North Down Wellbeing Festival at Bangor Aurora Aquatics & Leisure Complex on Muga Pitch 1 from 1pm-2pm.

Our session will focus on the basics of Softball including; batting, throwing & catching.

New members are always welcome & our home ground of Ward Park is just around the corner.

🥎 BARRACUDAS FALL SHORT AFTER ANGELS COMEBACK 🥎

The Barracudas made the perfect start against the Belfast Angels, racing into an early lead with four runs in the opening inning.

The highlight came from Matty Connor, who launched a superb home run to give the Cudas immediate momentum and silence the home support. Three more runs followed in the second, putting the visitors in a strong position.

However, the Angels responded with a five-run rally before adding three more in the third to turn the game around.

The Barracudas continued to battle, scoring twice in the fourth and mounting one final push with three runs in the sixth, but the Angels consistently found a response and maintained their advantage.

There were plenty of strong defensive moments from the Cudas throughout the game. Matty Connor was outstanding in the field, completing several outs and fly catches, while Danny McCartney, Matt Steenwyk, Adam Norman, Naomi Connor and Sophie Laughlin all contributed important defensive plays.

Despite recovering from the Angels’ decisive middle innings and threatening a late comeback, the Barracudas were unable to produce the big seventh-inning rally they needed.

A disappointing result, but plenty of positives and another determined performance from the team. 💙🥎

The Buccaneers Are Back in Action! 🥎

The Bangor Buccaneers are on the road again as they head to Strandtown Primary School to take on the Belfast Cubs in another exciting league fixture.

Every game counts as the season rolls on, and the Buccaneers will be aiming to put in another strong performance against the Cubs.

The Bucs took on the Brawlers at Ward Park on Sunday. From the off the Bucs had it though with having to play short-handed. After a tight first 2 innings the Brawlers went ahead by 1 run. A big inning by the Brawlers in the 3rd was too much in the end for the Bucs to catch up but they put in a valiant effort. Final Score Brawlers 24 - Buccaneers 16
