With both sides aiming to secure their first victory of the season, this promises to be a highly competitive and entertaining fixture.

Our opening league game is this Saturday as we take on Ashton Athletic.

Both teams claimed wins in their final pre-season fixtures and will head into the game full of confidence.

On Tuesday Ashton beat Padiham 2-1, while the Mechs beat a Morecambe FC XI side 3-1 last Saturday.

The faith this club shows in younger players like me is not something you’ll find at every club. I’m going to fight to the final whistle of every game to try and repay that trust. We fight to win games..

Caden Beckett joins AFC Blackpool

AFC Blackpool have completed the signing of highly rated winger Caden Beckett, who has joined the club on a duel registration from Bamber Bridge.

Beckett also plays for the Fleetwood Town International Football Academy and has previously represented Kendal Town, as well as Penrith.

Speaking about his move to the Mechs, Beckett said

"What really attracted me to AFC Blackpool was the ambition around the club and the chance to keep developing as a player. After speaking with the manager and coaching staff, it was clear they believed in me and saw where I could help the team, which gave me a lot of confidence."

Beckett added

"I’ve heard good things about the club and the supporters, so I’m looking forward to being part of it. I’ll be giving everything I can every time I put the shirt on, and hopefully I can earn the fans’ support through my performances and hard work."

Olly Hesford signs for the Mechs

AFC Blackpool are pleased to announce the signing of former Lytham Town player Olly Hesford.

The forward featured in our 3-1 win against Morecambe FC XI on Saturday and impressed those in attendance with his overall work rate.

Hesford said the following about his move to the Mechs

"The main attraction for me was being able to play with a group of people I’ve played with before, including a few players I played alongside at AFC Blackpool Under-18s. That familiarity made the decision an easy one and was a big factor in me joining.

I'm also really excited to work under the manager and hopefully as a team we can have a strong season!"

Ethan Brough joins the Mechs

AFC Blackpool are delighted to announce the signing of Ethan Brough. The midfielder has joined AFC after previously playing at 1874 Northwich and Thornton Cleveleys.

Brough has impressed during pre-season and was named Man Of The Match after our 6-1 win against Freckleton FC.

The midfielder said the following about joining AFC

"Salanki and Mark were a big reason for me joining the Mechs this season, they explained to me their vision and expectations for this season which is an exciting one. The biggest factor was how appreciated they made me feel, they sounded keen to bring me in."

Brough added

"Pre-season has been good, we’ve had a mixture of grooling heavy sessions with shape work and patterns practice. We've had some very tough fixtures against good opposition which we’ve been competitive in, like the trip to the Isle of Man. All the lads have put the work in and I think we’re ready for the season to kick off, which is where the hard work really begins!"
