Our temporary visitors have now left Grimsbury Road Playing Fields!

A huge thank you to our local residents for keeping us informed throughout, as well as Avon and Somerset Police, South Gloucestershire Council, and Cllr Sean Rhodes for Kingswood and his team for their outstanding support.

Sometimes our local authorities come in for criticism, but the help and support we received has been first class.

We know it can be tempting to take matters into your own hands in situations like this, and many people asked why we didn’t just “sort it out” ourselves. However, the safest and most responsible approach was to allow the police and the established legal process to run its course. That ensured the safety of everyone involved and ultimately achieved the right outcome.

We’d also like to thank the wider rugby community for reaching out and offering their support. A special mention to Barton Hill RFC for kindly allowing our girls’ section to use your facilities so they could continue training while our grounds were unavailable.

Unfortunately, the playing fields have been left in quite a mess, the clean up will begin as soon as possible to get everything back to normal.

***Local Dog Walkers***

Please take extra care if you’re using the playing fields over the next few days. There are still some unidentifiable items of rubbish on the fields, so we’d recommend keeping your dogs on a lead until the clean-up has been completed.

Now let’s all look forward to the Kingswood Rugby Club Family Funday & Cider Festival 2026 on 15th August!!!!! 🍺🍎🎡🌮🍔🧇🏰🎁🍰🍬🍭

Tuesday Mixed Training:

We may have unfortunately been unable to train on our own pitches this week. But that didn’t stop all our senior sides getting out and feeling the burn in our very first joint Mens, Queens, Colts and U18 Athena’s session.
Great effort by everyone both coaching and training.

As many of you may already be aware from social media, Kingswood Rugby Club pitches are currently occupied by some very unwelcome visitors, meaning we've unfortunately had to cancel training.

Thankfully, that's not where the story ends.

A huge thank you to everyone at Barton Hill RFC for kindly giving our Kingswood Athenas U16 Girls the use of part of their pitch so they could still get some valuable pre-season training in.

It's a brilliant example of the Bristol Combination rugby community pulling together when it's needed most. Clubs supporting clubs, players supporting players.

Thank you again to everyone at Bart's. We really appreciate your support.

UPDATE regarding the visitors who have chosen to use our playing field as a temporary camp.

The matter has been reported and both Avon and Somerset Police and South Gloucestershire Council have started the appropriate formal processes to address the situation. We would like to thank them along with Cllr Sean Rhodes for Kingswood team for their support and assistance in helping us manage this matter.

We would also like to thank the local residents who brought this to our attention quickly. Their actions allowed us to respond swiftly and ensure the appropriate authorities were involved.

Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we have had no choice but to close the club and postpone tomorrow’s planned activities. This includes our Open Day, where we were expecting over 200 children to come along and enjoy rugby activities, as well as our T1 Festival taking place tomorrow afternoon.

This has not only meant a huge disappointment for all those who were looking forward to playing rugby, but it has also resulted in a significant financial impact for the club through lost revenue at what was set to be a fantastic community event.

We will continue to work with the relevant authorities and provide further updates when we are able to do so.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support of our club.

We are aware of the current situation occurring at our fields. We advise people to stay clear of the area until the situation has been dealt with.

We appreciate everyone’s concerns and we are taking care of the current situation.

We will update when everything has been sorted out.
