We certainly are making the most of these sunny evenings.
We made the trip to Henleaze for the Semi Finals of the Bristol and District Men's Bowls League Lloyd Trophy against Willmott Park, to find we were the only game this evening!
Most of the rink that built the lead in the Clarence Davey a couple of weekends ago did the business again going 11-0 up in 4 ends, they then dropped a couple of twos but 5 of the next 6 ends went our way extending to 25-6.
This allowed the other two rinks to keep it tight and a 7 on the last end saw the captains rink win by 3.
The third rink lost by 2 with two ends to play!
Next up the final, we're yet to know who it will be against as two games have yet to be played!!!

This morning our 'A' team travelled to Clevedon Bowling Club for our Somerset County League Fixture, this fixture was originally scheduled for the 2nd week of the League season.
It was a close game all round until the 15th end when we managed to gain a double figure lead. A lead we maintained until the end, our one losing rink was winning going into the last end, but a two on the last end meant they lost by one, but the game was already won.
Today's result sees us six points behind our opponents with two games left to play.

Although it was Tuesday, we still had rain as if it was a Thursday!
Tonight we travelled to Redland Green for our encounter postponed from Week 2 of the 2026 season in the Bristol and District Men's Bowls League!
A tight affair with two rinks drawing, Liam White and his rink won 32-10 to secure the win bonus!!

You saw the photos yesterday, here's how we got to become the Champions of Bristol again!
For the first 3 ends we were behind, then level and behind again by 1 on the 5th end.
Then the rink of Jason Ovens, Russell Purnell, John Saunders and Peter Birmingham went on a run of ten unanswered ends scoring 22 shots in the process.
During that run on the 13th end the whole team outscored Knowle 10-0 opening up a 17 shot lead!
The final 5 ends were lost by a net of 1, 18-19, but the lead we had built proved too much.
Congratulations to the whole squad who played their part in getting us to the final!
But a special mention must go to our Captain Brian Purnell who has finally succeeded in bringing silverware back into the club in his fourth year as Captain.
A score of two (one was his) on the last end ensured he was also on a winning rink!
Well played Knowle.
Thank you! Olveston and District Bowling Club for hosting, and to Competition Secretary John Wood for his efforts throughout the season, and the Umpire Don Wilcox!
