It is with great sadness that Kent Branch has learned of the passing of John Stainer.

John was not only a huge part of lifesaving, but also a dear friend, mentor, and constant source of support to so many. His dedication to the sport was unmatched, always giving his time, knowledge, and encouragement to clubs and branches alike, helping others grow and ensuring lifesaving continued to progress.

John was a true gentleman in every sense of the word — respected, admired, and loved by all who had the privilege to know him. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering passion will never be forgotten.

He will be deeply missed by everybody whose lives he touched, and his legacy will live on through the countless people he inspired.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him at this difficult time. ❤️

Our Masters Lifesaving sessions run every Tuesday evening from 8–10pm, and we welcome all abilities, whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience.

Learn and develop vital lifesaving skills including CPR, essential first aid, rescue techniques, and improve your swimming strength and technique in a 50m pool all in a supportive and social environment. It’s a great way to challenge yourself, gain confidence, and have some fun along the way.

We are searching for missing 17-year-old Melissa from Crawley.

She was last seen on Saturday (29 March) at 9pm.

Melissa has light brown hair with extensions worn down her back, a rose tattoo on her neck and a lion tattoo on her right arm. She maybe wearing a black or grey sports coat and carrying a black bag.
