Thank you to Katie for our run report this week following event number 625….
Results should be on the way - but the heat has seeped into the results sausage machine and there has been a lower and slower level of results processing and production… a bit like my run this morning.
Well done all for running in that heat and over to Katie…….
Today I visited Darlington South with Lisa and Andy, where both of them successfully completed their Compass Challenge.
Event #625 took place on a beautiful, sunny morning. The park was already lively before parkrun, with several other activities taking place. It was lovely to see so many people making use of the park, creating a fantastic community atmosphere before the event got underway.
Today there were 421 finishers and 27 amazing Hi-Vis Heroes making the event possible.
This week's results were full of highlights:
🏃♂️ 11 people completed their first-ever parkrun
🏃♀️42 runners were first timers at Darlington South
At the front of the field, the first male finisher Thomas Grayson crossed the line in an impressive 17:40, while the first female Chloe Bright finisher followed with a superb time of 21:21.
A huge congratulations to Chris who came on his wedding day! Didn’t he look quite brilliant. Congratulations to Chris and Sam from all of us.
Whether you ran, walked, volunteered, or cheered from the sidelines, you all played your part in making it another brilliant morning at parkrun.
Until next time happy running, walking, volunteering and touring!

Good evening everyone,
Please take a moment to read the following ahead of tomorrow's event.
A massive thank you to everyone who has responded to our volunteer appeals. We've managed to fill most of our roles, but we still have a couple of gaps.
This weekend we only have ONE timekeeper and are also missing a marshal.
As always, but especially this weekend, it's really important that everyone follows the finish funnel process correctly:
- Finish on the left-hand side once you have completed your 3 laps.
- Stay in the order you finished after crossing the finish line.
- Follow the path around to collect a finish token.
- Have both your finish token and parkrun barcode scanned by our barcode scanners.
Please do not:
- Cross the finish line more than once.
- Move out of position in the finish funnel.
- Refuse a finish token if you have crossed the finish line.
Philip, our wonderful timekeeper this weekend, would really appreciate everyone following the above. As he's working without a second timekeeper, it's especially important that our finish process runs as smoothly as possible.
If anyone is able to volunteer for either of the remaining roles, please let us know.
If there are any further updates, I'll include them in my run briefing tomorrow.
Thank you, and see you all in the morning!

Happy Friday parkrunners! Another volunteer shout out - for tomorrow, we're still looking for a funnel manager, a finish token giver and a couple of marshals. Please comment below if you can help!
Also... do you have a one-in-a-million parkrun memory to share with the world? This weekend, we'll be filming short clips to celebrate the one millionth parkrun event (I believe that's combined, rather than a million different parkruns - so here in Darlington we've contributed 621 of those near-million events).
We're looking for some willing participants to take part in short video clips telling us what their 'parkrun event in a million' was. It could be anything - whatever's special or memorable to you! That PB parkrun? The time all your mates surprised you for a milestone? The time you finally convinced someone to join in?
Interested? Our film crew (OK, solitary volunteer with a smartphone) will be loitering by the fountain before parkrun in the morning - pop along and get involved.
