Toll Bar Masters hits 100!

On Saturday 3rd October Toll Bar Masters travelled over to Hull to visit one of their oldest and dearest friends on the Masters circuit, Hull Warriors. Due to Wakeys fantastic achievement at reaching the Grand final, Toll Bar travelled over without a few regular players but still managed to field 15.
The day started in chaos with one of the cars travelling over breaking down and a couple of hurried collections were made on the M62.
The game was played at a frenetic pace in balmy autumnal conditions. Both sides put in lots of effort and the watching crowd were treated to a great spectacle of how Masters rugby should be played.
Tries by Thom Goodchild, Chris Jeeves, Shane Southgate and a lovely worked try by Andrew Wedgwood following the now famous ‘Ma Kelly’ move ensured the game ended 0-0.
Special mention to Reid Garrity who was awarded the Toll Bar man of the match by Warriors coaching staff. Toll Bar manager wishes to put it on record that the whole team worked tirelessly and really put a shift in against a very capable Hull side. When we first set off these were one of the teams Toll Bar aimed to be on par with and this year have proven that we can live with anyone.
It must go without saying that while some teams on the Masters circuit are struggling to fulfill fixtures, this was Toll Bar Masters ‘100’ game.
What a fantastic achievement and a huge thank you to all players, past and present, that has ‘donned’ the Toll Bar shirt and took to the field to represent this great club.

Our brand new girls under 11s team will be taking to the training field tomorrow night at Prospect Rd.

Please pass along to any girls in current school years 5 and 6 as we aim to get our 2nd girls age group up and running in 2027!

Our U12 Girls travelled to Bransholme Bears on Saturday, what followed was a match of epic proportion. 2 evenly matched teams went at it, hammer and tongs, with ferocious tackling, strong running, interspersed with skills and technique.
It was, simply, a joy to watch. Our girls have come on in leaps and bounds, their skill set, positional play, ex*****on and confidence have come so far. All the coaches, parents, and spectators agreed it was our girls best performance and were immensely proud of them.
Special thanks to Bransholme for your hospitality and looking after us, you have a cracking set of girls and we look forward to hosting you on Saturday 17th October.
Come and watch us, you won’t be disappointed.

On Sunday Toll Bar Masters returned to the field where they entertained Catterick Crusaders. The visitors travelled light on numbers and were supplemented by a couple from local neighbours Bentley.
As always between these two sides, the game was played in a great spirit and each team had an enjoyable afternoon playing the game they love.
There were some lovely touches in the game, one that that led to a well taken try by Matt Jones following a lovely off load by Andy Wedgwood. The best try of the game was harshly disallowed by the strict refereeing. A move that started in TB half, sublime passing between half the team led to Shane Southgate sprinting away only to be brought back for a controversial previously called tag.
Further tries by Steve Patterson (2), Shane Southgate and Andy Wedgwood ensured the game finished all square.
It was noted by the TB players, staff and spectators that this was the best performance the Crusaders had put in against us. They never gave in and played with tenacity throughout the game.
Thank you for making the effort and travelling down.

After the game and following his recent selection for England, team captain, Mick Hanson consented to club members paying £1 per strip of hair removal patches to be placed on his ‘magnificent pelt’ and then ‘tugged off’ by the payer. The funds raised were supplemented by raffle proceeds resulting in Mick receiving £100 towards his expenses.

Our 1st team are aiming to lift their third trophy of the season at 15:00 today at Batley Bulldogs Fox's Biscuits Stadium.

We hope to see you all there in your club colours but more importantly we would like to hear you cheering on the lads to help get them over the line!! 💜💙🏉💪

The Yorkshire Men’s League Grand Finals are taking place this Saturday at the Fox's Biscuits Stadium, the home of Batley Bulldogs RLFC 🙌

Four finals will be played across the day, with the action set to be streamed live on the RFL’s official YouTube channel 📺

With the success of our under 12s girls team this year, we are looking to expand our female participation and aim to provide an extra girls team.

In 2027 we will attempt to field an under 13s team, currently coached by Jill and George, and an under 11s team which will be spearheaded by Masters Rugby League International Mickey Hanson.

Please get in touch with Mickey on the number below for more details if your girl is currently in school years 5 and 6. Our 1st session will be Friday 2nd October 2026.

INTERNATIONAL INCOMING!!!

Yet more good news to come out of Prospect Rd. this week as long standing Masters player Chris C***s has been included in the England PDRL squad for the upcoming World Cup in Australia.

Chris featured in our very first Masters game back in 2021 and has been one of our highest appearance makers as the years have gone on.

We would all like to wish Chris the best of luck as he travels down under and we hope to see his winners medal when he returns!!!!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💜💙🏉
