🖤🤍❤️ GIRLS' RUGBY FLOURISHING AT OLD BRODS 🖤🤍❤️

This fantastic photo from Sunday's Women's TREX 7s Tournament hosted by Halifax Ladies & Girls RUFC perfectly captures the growth of girls' and women's rugby at Brods.

Just twelve months ago, we didn't have girls-only teams at U10 or U12 level. Today, we're proud to offer a genuine girls' and women's pathway, with opportunities from Tots and mixed-age rugby through to U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s and into our Women's team.

The sight of our youngest girls standing alongside Women's players shows exactly what we're building! A clear pathway where girls can start their rugby journey, develop their skills, grow in confidence, make lifelong friendships and continue playing the game they love for years to come.

This isn't just about one tournament or one season. It's about creating opportunities for girls across Calderdale to get involved in rugby, regardless of age, experience or ability. Whether your daughter already plays rugby, is looking to try a new sport, or has never picked up a rugby ball before, there's a place for her at Brods.

🏉 Have fun
👭 Make friends
💪 Build confidence
❤️ Be part of something bigger

Congratulations to everyone involved in the continued growth of girls' and women's rugby at Brods. The pathway is growing, the future is bright, and we're excited to welcome the next generation of players.

📩 Get in touch to find out more about our U10, U12, U14, U16 and Women's teams.

📊🏉 MEN'S 1XV SEASON STATS 2025/26 🏉📊

What a season it has been for the Men's 1XV.

🥉 3rd Place Finish
The highest league finish in the club's history, securing a place in the promotion play-offs and another milestone for the club.

👏 8 First Team Debuts
A season that saw 8 players make their 1XV debut, including 3 players stepping up from the Colts programme. A testament to the pathway being built at the club and what a year it has been for our Colts.

💪 Ever-Presents
Only three players featured in every league game this season:
• Elliot Craven (Captain)
• Harry Dunne
• Curtis Taylor

🏃 Top Try Scorer
Captain Elliot Craven led from the front throughout the season, finishing as the club's leading try scorer and narrowly missing out on top points scorer.

🎯 Top Points Scorer
Josh Kelly's boot proved invaluable all season long. His consistency from the tee, coupled with his contributions around the field, earned him the title of the club's leading points scorer.

A season full of records, debuts, development and memories. Plenty of positives to take forward as preparations begin for the 2026/27 campaign.

LOOKING AFTER PLAYERS 👌

Well done and thank you to everyone that’s supported Ghee 🖤♥️🤍

❤️ 🏉 Old Brodleians RUFC vice-captain and team manager Elena Bunbury feels the response to team-mate Ghee Thompson’s horrific leg break sums up what grassroots rugby is all about.

The NC 2 North Central (Level 5) side have launched a fundraising campaign to support the rehabilitation of one of their most influential players after a freak injury left her facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

And while the money raised will help fund specialist rehabilitation and physiotherapy, Bunbury, who was the coaches’ player of the season this year, believes the biggest takeaway has been seeing the rugby community unite behind one of its own.

The scrum-half told The Rugby Paper: “You expect team-mates, parents and people close to the club, but there have also been donations from people who don’t know her that well.

“Our club president, chairman and physio all donated £100 and there have been contributions from players on the men’s side and bar staff as well.

“It’s nice for her to see just how many people care...
